I run my own First Aid Training company TrainAidInc which I established some 12 yrs ago after a 25yrs career in aviation and training aircrew in aviation first aid, working as an instructor for St John Ambulance and lecturing in first aid studies at HE College/Universities.
When I returned to biking some 10 yrs ago, having been away from it for some 30yrs, I found it had changed - a LOT!
But some of the old myths still hung around accident scene management and ‘never take the helmet off’ and ‘don’t move the casualty’ kept coming up in conversations I had with bikers.
So, I put a FAB First Aid Course together and started delivering it to MCC’s and Bike Groups across the UK.
I now work alongside the Staffs Road Safety Partnership in delivering these workshops on their behalf.
They are not a Biker Down session. I mention it because, for whatever reasons, many people think that Biker Down is a biker first aid course, but it’s actually more about scene management and the science of being seen (as a biker).
My FAB workshops cover accident scene management (UK and protocols abroad), Emergency Life Support, First Aid and we look at common medical conditions (heart attack for example) their signs/symptoms and how to address these (it’s not always an emergency but if somebody you are riding with has an issue it’s nice to know how to help), we also discuss ‘health around motorbikes’ - riding and mindset, riding and nutrition, riding gear and mental health.
A very informative 3hrs session for just £15 p/p.
Modules I cover in the 3hrs session include:-
What IS First Aid
First Aid and the Law
Riding Gear
Riding and Nutrition
Mindfulness
Scene Management
The Unconscious Casualty and Recovery Position
Spinal and Neck Injury Management
The Unconscious and Non Breathing Casualty
CPR and De-Fib use
Shock and Bleeding
Head Trauma Management and Helmet Removal
Burn Management
Fractures
Allergies
Eye Injuries (inc terrain blindness)
Temperature Extremes
Altitude Sickness
I have tried to include modules that are relevant to all riders but also to the new breed of adventure bikers who might be more remote and in different countries rather than the UK.
The workshops can be tailor made to fit the audience.
At just £15 per person, these workshops offer very good value and the knowledge to potentially save a bikers life.
It is not a formal qualification but all delegates do receive a Certificate of Attendance, valid for 3 yrs.
I hope this offers you a little more information - I can deliver most days/evenings at your venue.
Many thanks
Judy Richter

This stuff WORKS folks …. learn HOW 🥰👍
Gayle from our Rossington store used the beat of Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees to perform lifesaving CPR for 23 minutes when regular customer Nigel had a cardiac arrest and stopped breathing while out shopping with his wife Vicki.
When Nigel collapsed by the checkouts, Gayle rushed over to help while a customer called 999. Fifty-four-year-old Nigel, who returned to the store to thank Gayle after being released from hospital, said: "Gayle has given me a second chance; she saved my life. There is no thank you big enough to say to her. She just jumped in and did what she had to do to save my life before the ambulance crews got there. Some people may have panicked but not Gayle. She went above and beyond. I will be eternally grateful to her."
More than 600 of our stores have defibrillator, and Gayle used her store's one to monitor Nigel's heart. Gayle said: "The defibrillator kept analysing his heart rhythms and continued to tell me to keep doing CPR and then it said shock required so we stood back and then continued CPR. At this point he still wasn't breathing. We carried on, really determined, and then there was a lady there who was a carer who jumped in for me at the very end and did three or four compressions, and he started to take gasps for air. There was just sheer relief when he started to breathe again, and the paramedics arrived at that point." Read their amazing story here: https://bit.ly/3KeigjI
NHS resources are at bursting point, ambulance response times are increasing - it is SO much more important that first on scene has the knowledge and confidence to apply emergency support skills ……
