And the roof is on!

Our teams have been making the most of the good weather over the last few days to install the roof on our livestock building project in Devon. This building is really starting to take shape now!

Over the next couple of weeks our Groundworks team will be pouring the concrete slabs for the internals of the building and surrounding tracks, fingers crossed the weather will stay on our side!

We're looking forward to seeing the side cladding being installed over the following weeks too!

Concrete Yard...

Our Groundworks team has done an amazing job of completing this concrete yard area at our site in Wiltshire.

They have installed Armco barriers to the area this week as the finish touch - looking good in the sunshine! Well done team!

New Team Member...

We’re very pleased to introduce the lovely Tj to our team!

Tj joined us a few weeks ago as an Estimator and has settled in very well. Even with a slightly questionable taste in music, he’s a great addition to our team.

Coming from a landscaping and groundworks estimating background, Tj brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. He has been introduced to our existing clients and is working well to bring in new projects. A family man, Tj is described as a Hero by his children and is proving to be an estimating hero too!

It’s very important to us to have a happy, friendly and hard-working team, Tj fits in with perfectly our Family Business ethos and we’re very glad to have him join us!

Steelwork...

Progress update on our livestock building in Devon. The main steelwork is now in place thanks to our Steelwork team!

There are different options available for coating steel, choosing a galvanised steel will provide a durable finish, reducing the likelihood of maintenance in the future and protecting the steel from the elements as well as other substances such as fuels.

Galvanised steel is especially beneficial to farm buildings as it is hygienic for use around livestock and easy to clean.

What a beautiful week last week!

The sun shone as our teams made some great progress on new animal housing in Devon. Our Groundworks team continued with works around the site whilst our Steelwork team started erecting the galvanized steel frame.

It's always nice to see the steel going up on a new building, to see it taking shape after being fabricated in our workshop. The steelwork will continue to go up this week to complete the superstructure before our Cladding team start to take over roofing and cladding the building.

Ten Tors 2024!

TT24 is happening this weekend with students from Year 9 and above, they will be hiking unsupported for 35, 45 or 55 miles dependent upon age whilst carrying all they need for two days on Dartmoor. The event starts at 7am on Saturday 11th May, including an overnight "wild camp", and to be successful each team of six must finish by 5pm on Sunday.

This is a culmination of many months of training, starting for some last September. Thos that have attended all training events will have covered in excess of 300 miles, further than walking to Leeds!

Rose Engineering is proud to be sponsors of Sturminster Newton Expedition Group whose students come from Sturminster Newton High School, Dorset. Their progress can be followed on www.tentors.org.uk with their 35 teams on route A and D with team designation AN and DE and their 45 team on route S under the designation of SM.

What an amazing challenge to take on!

Ten Tors…

We’re proud to be sponsoring the Sturminster Newton Expedition Group in taking on the Ten Tors Challenge next weekend. 

“The Ten Tors Challenge is attempted by 2,400 teenagers in 400 teams of six. The teams navigate routes of 35, 45 or 55 miles (depending on age) over the Northern half of Dartmoor, visiting ten nominated tors / check points in under two days. Teams must be self-sufficient, carrying all that they need to complete their route and stay out overnight safely.”

Starting at Okehampton Camp, the event is organised by the Army’s Headquarters South West with the support of the Royal Navy and RAF along with volunteers and civilian emergency services.   

The team will have spent months training in preparation for the event to overcome the distance, terrain, and climate along the route.  Good luck to everyone in the Sturminster Newton Expedition Group taking part!

The steel structure has arrived on site this week, ready for our Steel team to take over. We can't wait to see the steel go up!

Cutting In...

A crucial part of the concrete floor laying process is cutting into the slab. This must be done a few hours after the slab has been laid and powerfloated.

After the slab starts to cure as it dries it can shrink, this is a normal process however can cause cracks in the slab. To help control these cracks, the slab is cut into to allow for the shrinkage.
