'The Avatar's Love: Kyoshi & Rangi'
For I've been working on a Klimt-inspired piece of Avatar Kyoshi and Rangi featured in the spin-off novels of hit series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
It's been so fun working on my first ever illustration project with Fantasy POP! and exploring the lore. Here are all 8 of my original characters!
I hope you've enjoyed them! What kind of characters and lore do you want to see next and what character that's part of this series would you want to learn more about? And what's been your favourite character of the series?!
This month, I've been really into the vintage comic pop art-esque style of the 60s. I really liked the glossy commercial pop feel and I wanted to practice getting into illustrating portraits. The nerd that I am and enjoying the fantasy genre, as well as dabbling into DnD here and there, I decided it'd be a great approach to combine the two! In this series I've been working on, I was inspired by the intricate and fantastical storytelling of the genre and translated them into this colourful glossy medium.
It's been super fun considering the lore and backgrounds of each character too. I hope you enjoy them, and keep your eyes peeled for the rest of the series! π

FANTASY POP! (VIII) - The Paladin of Montverra
Check out the final portrait in my Fantasy Pop! series! Hailing from the distant edges of the Five Kingdoms, Verona trained as a Holy Knight of the Twin Forests from a young age. Now, she protects the lands of her people, the Wood elves, from The Splewn, a cult harnessing a dark force corrupting the forest, rivers, wildlife and the valleys nearby.

FANTASY POP! (VII) - Lord Abdiel
Lord Abdiel of the Five Courts leads a union of five neighbouring kingdoms as well as his own home, The Kingdom of Aboran after recently ascending the throne upon the tragic death of his father. He enlists the help of Princess Agni and Prince Anzu and the other leaders to investigate trouble threatening the peace of the lands.

FANTASY POP! (VI) - Ezekiel The Beastslayer
A mighty warrior from an infamous clan of barbarians, Ezekiel, unlike his tribe, became attracted to the fame and glory from a young age. Now, he hunts for monsters and secret treasure alike, for the gold, adoration, and parties they hold in his honour, filled with all the drink and warm bodies Ezekiel can indulge in.

FANTASY POP! (V) - The Court Mage of the Sands of Sayelka
Kes'aal, a serpent-humanoid Yuan-Ti Pureblood, has been the advisor and court wizard of the human overlords of his former home: The Sands of Sayelka. What used to be an elusive, lavish, and magical kingdom hidden in the red sands of Oruk's Desert, is now a kingdom on the verge of collapse as rebel factions, military forces, and extremist groups have wrestled for the soul of the citadel for the past hundred years.

A break from my illustrations, here are some shots I took from last weekend's lil trip to Stonehaven!
FANTASY POP! (IV) - The Warrior Princess
Princess Agni is the younger step-sister of my second entry, Sorcerer Prince Anzu. Level-headed where her brother is aloof, and patient and disciplined where Anzu is spontaneous and imaginative, Agni helps leads her father's royal military with sharp wits and strategy to complement her prowess with her katana and agility on the battlefield.

FANTASY POP! (III) - Novre The Fierce
My third entry to the series introduces Novre The Fierce! Novre is an orc, adopted by a jungle warrior tribe of humans: the Pirtuks. Novre when born, cried constantly due to her blindness, and fearing that the child was a bad omen, her birth parents abandoned her. Here she wears traditional and ceremonial feathers and golds of her tribe's cultural festival. She is adored as the tribe's champion and one of their fiercest and skilled warriors as over time, as overtime, her other senses developed in an incredibly unique and powerful way.

'Nayeon XOXO'
I've been really into pop art as well as the vintage comic art style of the 1960s recently so I decided to study the style (as well as getting the hang of faces in general) with this portrait of Nayeon from TWICE.

'Blue'
Spent the day playing around with shadows and contours, as well as a line-less approach for a more painted look!
During the past month of May, I've been admiring people's work online for the MerMay challenge where digital illustrators pretty much draw mermaids and the likes according to prompts. With my exams completed, I've spent the past few days completing three of my first ever MerMay illustrations, check them out below! It's been a great way to truly get stuck in to digital illustration - something I've been really meaning to try out to expand my graphic design skills!
I do enjoy dabbling in storytelling and writing myself, so it's been pretty fun writing lore surrounding my illustrations too, and it's really inspired me for some things I hope to do over the summer!
