The first official day of Summer, winter is now over. 🙌

Full moon vibes… 🌕🔥 cleansing for the soul 🌅🙏

Rumi told us that the wound is the place where the light can enter. Khalil Gibran told us that out of suffering emerges the strongest souls, that the most massive characters are seared with scars. Marcus Aurelius told us that the impediment to action advances action, that what stands in the way becomes the way. Napoleon Hill told us that every adversity, every failure, and every heartache carries with it the seeds of an equal or greater benefit.

Elisabeth Kübler-Ross told us that the most beautiful people we have known are those “who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern.”

That “beautiful people do not just happen.”

When Joseph Campbell outlined the hero’s journey for us, the premise was that at the moment of the deepest and most unmoving difficulty, the protagonist recognized that it was they who must change. That which seemed to derail the path was the pinnacle moment at which the true path was actually revealed.

Anyone interested in what reiki actually is, here’s some general info. The feedback I’ve had on previous sessions has been phenomenal so if this is something you’ve never tried before I would consider being open minded to the massive healing benefits that occur during and the continued effects after a session.

Thought I’d introduce myself again, since I’ve not posted in a while. The past year has probably been one of the most challenging in a long time, but feeling now I’m getting some of my fire back…

Thought I’d birth a CHAGA apple cider vinegar extraction on this first full moon of the year. Setting intentions for my wellbeing, self care and creativity with the energy of this wolf moon.

The benefits of Chaga are numerous and this was foraged by me, locally, so this is a personal experience this time rather than a business one for now. Getting the ball rolling again though slowly but surely. This will ferment and be ready to use on the Spring Equinox on the 25th March, making this a super potent process.

Preparing your house for 2024? Why not purchase this smudge kit? What is that you may ask?!

𝕎𝕙𝕒𝕥 𝕚𝕤 𝕊𝕞𝕦𝕕𝕘𝕚𝕟𝕘?

Smudging a way to energetically cleanse a space to invite positive energy. When smudging a space, you burn plant material. The smoke fills and purifies the environment.

This Californian white sage is probably the most common and popular herb for smudging. It is associated with purity and has a strong and heavy presence. It's definitely useful for when you need a major space cleansing.

As the smoke ascends, our wishes and intentions rise and mingle into the universe, connecting heaven, earth, and humanity.

Smoke offerings are found in Buddhism, Indigenous practices in the U.S., and many other spiritual religions. The smoke ceremony creates transformation and blesses a space and the inhabitants.

𝕊𝕖𝕥𝕥𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕚𝕟𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟 𝕚𝕤 𝕜𝕖𝕪

Remember when performing a space clearing, intention is key. Before you start, take some time to contemplate what your wishes are for your home and family. When you clear your house, there’s a vacuum that’s created. You want to welcome your intentions into the newly cleared and open space.

𝕊𝕞𝕦𝕕𝕘𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕤𝕡𝕒𝕔𝕖

Start at the front door of the home and light your smudge stick. Then, begin to move around the home. Move mindfully and with care, walking clockwise around the entire perimeter of the home. Be sure to allow the smoke to drift into even the hidden spaces, like inside closets, basements and dark corners. If there are stairs, just go up or down when you encounter them. Then keep moving clockwise until you meet the stairs again. Then continue to go down or up the stairs and resume the main floor.

Moving around a space like this is called “circumambulation”. It’s a practice that’s been done for centuries in ancient cultures to make a space more sacred. And, if it feels okay to you, it’s helpful to chant a mantra or a prayer that you’re connected to. I use the Tibetan Buddhist mantra “Om mani padme hum”, the mantra of compassion. This is a way to fill the space with more cleansing vibrations.

ℂ𝕝𝕠𝕤𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕔𝕖𝕣𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕟𝕪

When you arrive back at the front door, chant your final mantra or prayer. Visualize the entire home is filled with bright white sunlight. Then speak your intention one last time to close the smudging ceremony.

Smudging rituals are a beautiful technique to clear a space. This can be done annually or more often. It’s especially powerful to perform a space clearing when you first move into a home, or moving into a new phase of life, moon cycles and just generally cleansing your space.
