From Dunfermline town centre, Follow the A823 Pilmuir Street through Wellwood for approximately 2.5 miles then turn Right onto the B915 and follow for 0.5 miles and then the entrance to Balmule House (signposted) will be on the Right-hand side after the bend.

From the East side of Dunfermline, head North on Whitefield Road B912 towards Queen Margaret Fauld. Turn left onto Kingseat Road, Turn Right onto Townhill Road, continue onto Main Street, continue onto Cairncubie Road and then onto the B915 and the entrance to Balmule House (signposted) will be on the Right-hand side.

From the M90, take junction 4 and then head along the B914 for approximately 2 miles then take the B915 for approximately 1.5 miles and then after the left hand bend the entrance to Balmule House (signposted) is on the Left-hand side.

Follow the long driveway all the way up until you see the house ahead and then park in the car park on the Right-hand side before you reach the house.
Walk through the walled gardens and access to David Cowan Physiotherapy is at the rear of the house through the double doors and the clinic room is located along the corridor adjacent to the gym.

My name is David Cowan, and I am a Private Physiotherapist based in Dunfermline, Fife.

I have extensive knowledge of sport being an Ex-Professional Footballer for 16 years playing for Newcastle United, Motherwell, St Johnstone, Dundee and five other clubs winning four league and cup trophies.

After suffering several major injuries and retiring from professional sport in 2015 I made the decision to study Physiotherapy, graduating with a First Class Honours. Since 2017 I’ve worked alongside one of Scotland’s top Physiotherapists, Stuart Barton at his main Clinic in Anstruther. In 2022 I opened a new clinic room in Dunfermline bringing my knowledge and experience to the west side of Fife.

I specialise in Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics and Sports Injuries focussing on diagnosis and treatments ranging from Spinal Manipulation, Joint articulation and mobilisation, Acupuncture, Soft tissue massage, Sports and K-Tape strapping, Exercise prescription and Gym programs and early to late-stage post operation rehabilitation.

Some pictures of the clinic room set up at Balmule House where I am based. It is located within the basement of the house, which has undergone extensive renovation whilst retaining many of the original features dating back hundreds of years.
The room is spacious and bright and extremely private with access to the clinic room gained via the rear of the house. Physiotherapy Rehabilitation can be undertaken in the state-of-the-art gym which is situated adjacent to the clinic room or outside on a grassy area for late stage injury testing.

The gym can also be used at other times if required for fitness, dance, yoga, group and one-to-sessions with a team of instructors at EQ6 Wellness
