Swiis Foster Care Permanence Service
The SWIIS Permanence Service is the only Fostering Agency in Scotland set up specifically to recruit permanent foster carers.
Our training and support has been designed to meet the needs of carers who are providing permanent care. Could you offer permanent foster care to a single child or brothers and sisters? Children who need a permanent family are some of the most vulnerable and challenging children in foster care. They may have experienced neglect, abuse and rejection so they will struggle to trust foster carers and

On Friday 17 October Swiis Foster Care Scotland held an Award Ceremony to recognise the talents of our young people, staff and carers for their many achievements!
182 staff carers and young people were nominated for awards to acknowledge achievements including learning to swim, taking part in plays and a wide variety of awards as well as the length of service of staff and carers where this was greater than five years.
It was a memorable day with each person receiving a certificate to acknowledge their achievements. All were offered the chance to have their photograph taken with their award, although many adults were a little camera shy!
Throughout the day we had the chance to view videos of some of our young people taking part in the activities they were receiving awards for – the Dynamic Youth Award, Sports Leader and Playmaker awards.
This was all in addition to a fantastic break out room where various fun activities were made available for our young people. These were provided by each of our regional teams and included cupcake decorating, making masks and model flowers and creating a dream catcher.
A huge ‘Thank you’ to those who provided the activities, to Conrad for presenting the awards, to Danni for the photographs, to the L&D Team who planned the event and to everyone who attended. We are already planning for our next event!

We had a great Pamper Day on 4th September. The carers who came along enjoyed Shiatsu massage, reflexology, indian head massage or had a manicure and polish. We also had a group session of Qi Gong which was great fun and very relaxing. Throughout the day carers also made Dreamcatchers and bracelets with Alison - very therapeutic! Everyone was able to relax, have a good chat and enjoy lunch together. We got excellent feedback from all the carers so we will definitely do this as a regular event to recognise the hard work our carers do.
Thanks to Dianne, Stephanie and Aileen for their help.
We have two important events planned for our our carers:
The first is a Pamper Day at King Malcolm Hotel on 4th September (book with Tauni). We want to give our carers some 'me time' in recognition of the demands they often have to cope with in caring for our children. Being a carer requires lots of time and energy and we want our carers to sometimes take the time to look after themselves.
All the children placed with our carers are now back at school after a very successful summer holiday. Good luck to several young people who have just started at High School - we know it can be scary but we're all here to offer support!
We're now into the school holidays and lots of our carers, and staff, are away on holiday or preparing to go. Hope you all have a great time. Remember many of our children struggle at times of change, when they are away from familiar surroundings and out of their normal routines. They may need lots of reassurance and patience to help them to enjoy a holiday!
