St Thomas More Primary School
At St Thomas More, the values of family, aspiration and love are the foundations for all we do.
In RE this afternoon, Blyton class were looking at the words 'Sorry', 'Thank you' and 'Forgive'. We listened to a reading and understood that God always forgives us. We thought about the times when we might be sorry or a time when we have had to forgive others - This can be hard! We know now that the end of the day is a good time to reflect so we headed outside into the sunshine to thank God for all of the wonderful things he gives us that we are thankful for today.
In English this afternoon, Blyton class were using inference to describe characters from our story Prince Cinders. After reading the whole story, we were tasked with matching up the objects to the right character using what we know. Then, we took what we know about these characters to create character fact files. Good work everyone!
In our science topic, "Changing Seasons," Blyton Class have been diving deep into the enchanting contrasts between Winter and Spring. βοΈπ±
From the frosty landscapes of Winter to the blossoming beauty of Spring, we have been immersing ourselves in the marvels of nature's transformations. Through engaging discussions and hands-on activities, we have been comparing the characteristics, weather patterns, and natural changes that define these two seasons.
What a fantastic day out on the field with Blyton Class on Tuesday! ππ
A huge shoutout to all of our students for their incredible display of teamwork, fielding, and striking skills during our PE trip. From catching those tricky balls to sending them soaring across the field, every moment was filled with energy and enthusiasm. It was truly inspiring to see everyone supporting each other, whether it was cheering on a teammate or lending a hand in perfecting those fielding techniques. This kind of teamwork is what makes us stronger together!
Massive congratulations to all involved - you did yourselves and Blyton Class proud!
Donaldson Class have been working hard on their fine motor skills this week - take a look!
Our young explorers in Donaldson class had a fantastic time getting up close and personal with all sorts of animals on their trip to the farm earlier this week. There were so many furry (and feathery!) friends to meet and greet! ππ But it wasn't just fun and games β we also were learning a lot about these fascinating creatures, from their habits and habitats to their roles on the farm. It was an educational experience that brought our classroom lessons to life!

In our topic of Seasonal Changes, our lesson for this week focused on Autumn and the changes it brings. We know that some animals get ready for hibernation during autumn and thought carefully about what they will need to be prepared. The super scientist in Blyton class have been working hard designing and creating the perfect dens. We will be brining our dens home so please ask us about them!
In English this week, Blyton Class have began exploring our new book 'Prince Cinders' by Babette Cole. We began by using inference to make predictions and thought of another similar story it reminded us of. We can't wait to see if our predictions are correct!
This week in DT, Blyton class used levers and pivots to create a moving mechanism. We worked carefully to create a range of moving mechanisms before designing our own. We were very pleased with our results!
Blyton class had a brilliant time in this weeks music lesson. We delved into the world of British Sign Language (BSL) and learnt some fantastic songs using sign language! It was an incredible experience, connecting music with the beautiful art of signing. The energy was fantastic as we danced our fingers through the melodies, and we're already counting down the days until our next lesson! πΆ
Next time, we'll be taking it a step further by learning more signs and creating our very own song with them!
A few pictures from our street dance session today - we had lots of fun!
In English this week in Blyton class we have been diving into the fascinating world of riddles! In our recent lessons, we've been sharpening our wits and expanding our vocabulary as we explore the art of crafting and solving riddles. From brain teasers to clever wordplay, we've been uncovering the secrets behind these intriguing puzzles! π§©π
It's been a whirlwind of laughter, creativity, and mental gymnastics as we challenge each other with our riddles and work together to crack the codes! Stay tuned for more updates as we continue our riddle-filled adventures in Blyton Class! Who knows what mysteries we'll unravel next? π΅οΈββοΈπ
In Dahl class, the new DT topic is officially underway, and it's all about 'Light Up Signs'! π‘π
In our first lesson, we've been busy investigating and analysing a variety of signs, from neon lights to LED displays, gaining inspiration for our own creations. Once we explored a range of signs we then made our own electrical circuits.
This week at Phonics Club, we took learning to a whole new level with a game of Twister πͺοΈ But here's the twist: we weren't just reaching for colours, we were reaching for sounds! Every twist brought a new word, sound or tricky word to recall.
Well done everyone!
Gemma from SSP led an incredible dance lesson for both Blyton and Donaldson class yesterday, and it was an absolute blast! The energy was electric and everyone had a fantastic time learning new moves πΊWe can't wait for the next dance session already!
We have been busy bees in Blyton class this afternoon π In our new DT topic 'Moving Minibeasts' we explored and created some sliding mechanisms. After our marvellous making, we evaluated our work by thinking of what we would do differently next time to improve. Well done everyone!
