Mini Vinnies and Eco Warriors went on a litter pick around our local area this morning. God created a world in which we have a special role as stewards of creation. As Mini Vinnies and Ecos we pledged to take care of our common home, so with the help of our local councillor, Bev, we decided to take action.
"We are stewards of the earth, summoned by God to "work and take care of it" (Genesis 2:15)

We were joined this afternoon by Erin form St. Cuthbert's Hospice. After she spoke to us about the work of the hospice, we then handed over the money we raised as a result of the Colour Run on Monday. Our top fundraiser this week had the honour of holding up the cheque. Well done to everyone who took part and thank you to all our generous families for contributing to such a worthwhile cause. We raised £1622!

Last week, the Eco Warriors celebrated World Environment Day (5th June). This year's theme focused on land restoration, desertification and drought resilience under the slogan “Our land. Our future. We are .” The Eco Warriors were able to plant a seed to take home, which they could then nourish in the hopes of watching it flourish and grow, as we continue to be restorers and protectors of God's good Earth.

Peace doves, a mass-participation artwork by Peter Walker, is set to take centre stage in the Nave of Durham Cathedral from July. Mini Vinnies wanted to take the opportunity to be involved in this unique opportunity of creating something special. This piece of artwork will be made up of thousands of individually handmade paper doves by visitors from all over the world.
Jesus said ‘Blessed are the Peacemakers’
Each Mini Vinnie took the opportunity to write a message of hope, love or peace on their dove. They then invited each class to write a collective message on a dove.
