After a weekend off we’re back in action this Sunday as we welcome Darlington to Hollow Drift, KO 2pm 🎬 This is another first encounter between the two teams and we expect a great match ⚡️

Throwback to last Friday when some of our players attended the RFU Women in Rugby Union Conference in Leeds. They had a great time talking to other women about growing the sport and got to meet women’s rugby legend Tamara Taylor 🌹🔥

Our development game was hard work taking on a determined Acklam side but the team didn’t disappoint ⚡️The effort made by the Dragons was nothing short of phenomenal and, led by captains Creechan and Rome, we came back from two tries down to a 12-12 draw ⚖️🐲 Unfortunately the game was called early due to an Acklam injury - we wish her a speedy recovery!

Everyone at City put in a massive shift and our newer players particularly showed what they’re made of 👊🏼 that includes Danielle who played her very first game! 🔵🟡 Massive shout out to Demelsa and Devon who absolutely smashed playing 🔟 and hooker🪝for the first time, earning BOTM and FOTM 🔥 OPOM went to Sam for her great runs, tackles and an overall fantastic performance 🧨

The willingness of everyone on this team to step out of the comfort zone and improve together is amazing ✨🤩 we rewarded ourselves with pizza and a karaoke social after the match 🍕🎤🪩 A Saturday 💯 well spent!

Yesterday’s game was a tough one but boy did we enjoy it! 🔥 Our guests Workington Finches brought us a physical game with some strong runs but the Dragons responded well, never giving up, turning over balls and improving their scrummaging at every knock on. With three tries and a few close attempts we couldn’t be prouder of the team, what a performance from every single player 🐲

Yesterday the Dragons welcomed Northallerton at home for a physical and hard fought game 🧱 with the two sides evenly matched and 2 try’s each, the game was decided at the tee - we really need to score under the posts more 🫣😂

The team had a brilliant game, enjoyed their rugby and it was smiles (and mud) all around ✨ 🐲 OPOM goes to Lamby for her 🔥 performance: rucking, jackling, carrying, pick and gos - you name it, she nailed it 🔨💣

It was also lush to catch up with old friends in the bar after the game 🙏🏼 and thanks to our supporters for making the trip to Shincliffe in horrendous weather conditions 🗺️🌾☔️

Yesterday was a brilliant day of rugby as Durham City and Consett senior teams fought for the Ned Smith trophy 🏆 The women’s match opened the proceedings and both teams played with an impeccable rugby spirit. In the end the Dragons prevailed but only after 80 minutes of hard graft by both teams 🥵🏉

This game also saw some firsts. Chanel made her senior rugby debut 🔥 playing both in the backs and forwards for an all-round performance and Jenny, who also made her senior debut this season, scored her first City try just in time for her birthday 🎂 Well played lasses! 🙌🏻⚡️
