A day in the life studying abroad
Did you know...? Global opportunities are also available to postgraduate students! Today we're having a peek into Kyle's life as a Biochemistry Masters student currently studying in Würzburg, Germany. Check out the video to find about his experience, or read the story below to find out more: "Hi my names Kyle, I am a postgraduate Biochemistry working student in Germany. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to study in Wurzburg, Germany. This is in part due to the hard work of my supervisors who had pivotal role in massively helping be secure both the Norman Richardson Travel Scholarship and Erasmus Traineeship grant helping to support my studies here. Whilst completing my Masters here, there are many important take homes. The interconnected nature of the departments allows for professors, PDRAs and PhDs to talk and discuss ideas outside of a formal lab meeting setting which was incredibly informative to me to understand what PhD or a role in academia really looks like. The second was how incredibly international our department is with people from all over the world. I found myself switching from Spanish to English on a daily basis and gaining a greater appreciation for how research is conducted in different areas around the world. Which is an experience that I am truly grateful to have been given. I really cannot stress how eye-opening such an experience is, not only for someone interested in research abroad but also the insight into different cultures and ways of thinking. If you’re given the opportunity to carry out research abroad and would take it with both hands!"
