Everything we know about the redevelopment of Prince Bishops Place 12/07/2024

The redevelopment of Prince Bishops Place in Durham City is set to transform the area, addressing the changing landscape of retail and modern consumer habits.

Approved by Durham County Council, this project aims to revitalise the city centre by creating a mixed-use facility that includes commercial units, public spaces, a hotel, and student accommodation.

While the development promises economic benefits and a fresh look for the city, it has also sparked concerns among residents and local councillors about its impact on the community.

With construction work expected to start in mid-2025 and completion set for autumn 2028, here's a comprehensive look at everything we know about the development, highlighting both its potential advantages and the challenges it may bring.

Why isn't Milburngate ready yet? 30/05/2024

Our latest piece covers the delayed Milburngate development, a transformative project located where the old Milburngate Building once stood. This ambitious regeneration effort in Durham City has faced several delays and controversies.

Originally scheduled for a late 2022 launch, the project has encountered numerous setbacks, raising concerns about accountability.

High-profile tenants like BrewDog have criticised the delays, and a dispute between the council and the developer has further complicated matters, leaving residents and future tenants in a state of uncertainty.

In our feature, we explore the reasons behind these prolonged delays and discuss the steps needed to bring the project to completion.
