I am very excited to announce two new welfare initiatives to ensure that shooting is both comfortable and safe!

🔹Masks🔹
From now on, we’re offering masks and rubber gloves to protect you from gunpowder smoke while enjoying your shooting session. Feel free to use them as needed.

🔹 Foam rollers & Fascia gun 🔹

To ease muscle fatigue in your waist, arms, and shoulders after shooting, we now provide foam rollers and fascia guns for post-session relaxation. Instructions for use will be posted on the notice board.

Welcome drinks, 3 course meal, half a bottle of wine, jazz band, photographer, awards AND rumours that our beloved chun gun will be back on site.

Ticket release is THIS Friday, 19th Jan, through FIXR. (Link will be posted once they’re live)

£60 for members.

What a year DURC…

We’ve run our first ever beginners course, drunk too many DURC pints, gotten NSRA RCO qualified, trekked to Bisley, updated the book of DURC AND lost our beloved chun gun.

Word on the range is that bullet ball preparations are getting underway for 2024 👀

🚨 ATTENTION DURCLINGS - BIG NEWS 🚨

Next term, I’ll be organising an Inter-College Competition! This will be a great chance to represent your college in a sporting fixture and to try out competitive shooting - especially if you weren’t able to join BUCS this year. The competition has been designed to be *beginner friendly*, see below.

The full (provisional) rules for the league are linked at the bottom of this post, but I’ll outline the basics here.

FORMAT

The league will consist of two postal rounds, followed by a knockout semi-final for the four highest-ranked teams. The winners from the semi-final will then shoot a final together.

TEAMS

To encourage beginners to get involved (and to stop teams from just entering their one best shot), there are advantages to having a larger team, up to a maximum of seven people (more are allowed but do not necessarily improve your lot). Scores are based on team averages, and, so long as you have enough people, the lowest score is disregarded. So, even if you’re a complete beginner or worried about your score, don’t feel that you can’t/shouldn’t enter!

Also, I know that some colleges don’t have many active members in DURC, so I’m allowing two colleges to form a single, collective team if they wish. To prevent exploitation of the bonuses for larger teams, no more than two colleges may form a combined team and some bonuses are decreased for non-contiguous teams.

Mentor Groups are out!

These are compulsory for club rules, and the law. If you haven’t been assigned a mentor please message us ASAP.

The groups are designed to give you a first point of contact for anything you might need in the club, and also to cover all basic safety regulations.

Please join your WhatsApp chats! They’re really important for your mentor to be able to contact you.

Tom, the (club captain), Sophia, (lead mentor) and Juntao (Welfare) will also be in all your chats, don’t be afraid to reach out to them for anything.

We ask that you meet in your groups 3 times this term, it can be anytime, your mentors will help arrange it all!

A look back at 2022/23…

What a fantastic year!! From cold mornings at Bisley, to Babs CCTV and ending ankle deep in the river to rescue a frisbee… we’ve been through it all.
