Happy Tuesday Little Badgers.
What a lovely day we have all had today, the children have been developing their fine motor and hand eye co-ordination skills through investigating the different shapes beads to thread onto string. Throughout this learning opportunity the children have alternated using both of their hands, to weave the different beads up, down and around into the string to create a beautiful pattern displaying good concentration skills. The children were also keen to identify the different shape beads they were using showing great awareness of shape recognition.
The children have also been busy creating some beautiful natural collage pictures with lavender and leaves at the mark making table, where the children have been using their senses to feel and smell the different objects from thier world around them before using different techniques such as spreading, dipping and dabbing before pressing these natural objects down firmly. What beautiful pictures you have all created.
We will look forward to exploring with you all again tomorrow. ❤️
Happy Tuesday little Hedgehogs, the babies have had fun squashing and squeezing the playdough in their hands. Th children have been using their fingers and hands to pick up the playdough to get a feel before exploring it. The little Hedgehogs used their pointy finger to make marks in the playdough and some of the babies have pulled the playdough and squashed and squeezed it before using other resources to investigate.
The children used different patterned balls to create different patterns and marks within the playdough. The children picked up the balls and placed them on top of the playdough and pushed the balls in to leave a variety of marks and patterns in the dough. The babies seemed to have really enjoyed this as they are laughing and squealing. Well done little Hedgehogs 🦔
Welcome back to nursery little squirrels, we hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today we have been exploring with the sand. We have used a variety of objects to make different marks in the sand. We started to explore by using the cars and animals to leave tracks in the sand. 'A cow, moo' one child said as they pointed to the cow. Another pushed the car around the tray saying 'brrmm, beep beep' Some of the children they started to use their fingers to draw lines and marks. They were able to recognise when they moved their finger through the sand this left the mark behind for them to see.
We have also been matching objects to their shapes. We used different sized blocks and logs to draw around leaving their outline on the paper. We collected the blocks of matching shapes and used these to find the correct shape. The children held the blocks in their hands, moving them across and rotating them around on the paper.
Well done Little Squirrels
Happy Monday Little Hedgehogs 🦔I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Today in the little hedgehogs room the children have been using their fine and gross motor skills to practice their self feeding, using spoons to scoop up flour to place into the bowls provided. The children did really well with this!
Meanwhile some children were creating some fabulous mark making using their fingers to make different shapes and marks in the flour. Some children enjoyed this as they squealed with excitement while clapping there hands together watching the flour fall. Well done little Hedgehogs 🦔
An emotional week as we say goodbye to our school ready children. It has been a pleasure to have everyone be a part of Little Foxes room. Hapy Friday Little Squirrels! What a wonderful day we have had today. This morning we have spent some time exploring in the garden. We explored in the shaving foam outside in our tray. We used our hands to explore, touching the foam and moving it around across the tray. Some of the children enjoyed clapping their hands together, watching as the shaving foam flew. We have also been using the wooden spoons to make music on the music wall. The children used the spoon to hit each of the metal posts listening to the noises they can make.
We have also been practicing our physical skills using large and small spoons to transport and scoop up the cereal adding it into the different pots and bowls.
This afternoon we have enjoyed some bubbly water play. The children enjoyed cooling off in the water using their hands to splash. As the children moved their hands across the tray more bubbles appeared. 'Bubble' one child said, 'splash' said another. To cool of further, some of the children dipped their feet into the water.
Have a lovely weekend Little Squirrels
Happy Friday Little Badgers what a lovely day we have all had today ❤️
This morning we headed outside into the garden to enjoy the lovely sunshine, the children participated in a spot of ice painting where the children used their preferred hand to hold the lolly stick frozen into the multi coloured ice before moving it up, down, left and right and all around to create an array of beautiful marks. Throughout this mark making activity the also investigated in noticing the changes and effects of colours and how they change when they turn into something new.
Some of the children preferred making marks on the ground and moving their ice around in circular motions to create different size shapes big and small.
The children have been busy also developing their fine motor skills and hand eye coordination to alternate with their hands to hold tweezers to squeeze and release before picking up different colour objects and dropping them into the correct colour bowl. The children all did really well focusing and showing great concentration all the way throughout.
Well done Little Badgers we hope you all have a lovely weekend and we will look forward to seeing you all again on Monday.
Happy Friday little owls! 🙂
Today we have been looking at physical care routines, we have explored changing, feeding and taking care of the babies.
The children demonstrated being imaginative and expressive by recreating familiar, everyday routines and by acting out pretend roles. They were able to discuss their past and present events through a wide range of language.
Great job owl's! 🦉💓
What a busy day our Little Squirrels have had!
We started the day gluing and sticking, using the different coloured tissue paper and feathers to create a masterpiece. The children grasped the paintbrush and spread the glue around their paper, doing this is different ways. They then chose what they wanted to use to stick down. "Oh wow" one child said as they added more feathers to their picture. "Spider" another said as they picked up a feather and held it high to show me. "1, 2, 3, 4, 5" a child said as they pointed to the tissue paper on their picture.
We have also been doing lots of dancing, our favourites were the grand old duke of York, baby shark and sleeping bunnies. The children showed fantastic physical skills as they copied actions/movements and moved their body in different ways along to the music.
Well done everyone!
Happy Thursday Little Badgers 😊

Throughout this learning opportunity based all around shapes, the children looked closely at the different shape patterns on display before using their preferred hands to stick the shapes down copying the patterns displayed.
Throughout this learning opportunity too, the children also showed great understanding to responding to questions and showing willing to respond when asked to find the different shapes too.
This afternoon the children have been developing their fine motor skills thorough participating in a spot of painting with pegs and cotton balls, the children alternated between using both of their hands to squeeze the pegs and selected their cotton wool. The children then used different techniques such as dipping and dabbing deep into the paint before making some beautiful marks.
Good work Little Badgers we will look forward to seeing you all tomorrow to explore again ❤️
What a fantastic Thursday we have had little owls! 🦉
We started the day by doing some observational drawing, the children admired the flowers and pointed out what they could see and smell using all of their senses, one child said that the flowers smelt beautiful! They then continued to use their fine motor skills to navigate the pencils on the paper to draw the flowers, they all did an excellent job.
Outdoors, we have been enjoying the glorious weather and have been mark making using some ice paints! The children observed while the paints melted the different colours onto the board! 🌈
The babies have enjoyed being in the garden today, the weather has been lovely so we have been out to play and build with the blocks in this lovely summer weather. Some children used their fine motor skills to pile the blocks on top of each other while others investigated in the sand making loads of different marks with their hands and fingers. It's been so lovely to see the children enjoying this nice weather and we hope it's like this again tomorrow.
Today we have had lots of fun exploring the new sensory toys given to us. The children have been using their fine motor skills to get a feel of the sensory mats, the babies have used their fingers to feel over the different patterns on the mats meanwhile the other little hedgehogs have been getting a feel of the sensory balls. The babies have rolled them around on the floor and running after them to pick up and roll again the children have liked the different shapes of the balls and the different patterns on them. The babies have squealed while playing alongside each other enjoying the sensory balls and mats. Wow little hedgehogs it's been lovely to see you all sharing and playing alongside each other! Well done little hedgehogs 🦔
Happy Wednesday Little Owls!
We have had a lovely day today exploring the water tray. We have enjoyed using different objects such as pots and pans to scoop and pour the water, watching it run down the pipe and back into the tray.
The children have enjoyed chasing bubbles in the garden trying to see how many they can pop as well as practicing their balance on the stepping stones.
We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow for another fun day.
What a lovely day we have had today exploring different textures with cereals. From a mixture of Krispies to cornflakes. Identifying different sounds and noises while doing so too. The children have enjoyed picking a handful of cereal up and crushing them in their hands making a crunching noise. Some babies explored the textures using their mouths eating them and making different crunching noises doing that too. The little hedgehogs also sat in the tray to get a feel of the cereal and were enhaged in this activity for a while. Well done little Hedgehogs 🦔
🦊✨Foxes✨🦊
A lovely Tuesday we have had in foxes room. From our garden we collected some lavender and combined it with our purple playdough to create a new sensory experience.
The children have loved some water play in the garden, pouring water along all the tubes on the walls and watching where it ends up.
What a wonderful Monday,
In foxes room we have practiced forming numbers on a large scale.
The children have shown a keen interest in using a range of materials to make pictures using their imagination.
We have spoke about children starting their next adventures at school and nursery school.
In a group we have spoke about what we have done over the weekend.
Today the little owls🦉 have demonstrated excellent fine motor skills by using toffee hammers to hammer golf tee's into the potatoes.
All of the children showed concentration and determination when putting the tee's into the potatoes, the children began to use their imaginations to create items of their choice.. one child said this is my 'spider' and they began to count how many legs the spider had.
Well done little owls! 😀
What a busy Tuesday we have had in the Little Squirrels room.
The children have been showing a great interest in 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' story. We began the day by sitting in the story area reading the story to all of our friends, some children showed excellent mathematics development as they helped us to count the fruit in the story "2, 3," one child was heard saying as we counted the strawberries. Following on from their interest in the story we decided to create our own caterpillars with the green and red playdough, the children showed great gross and fine motor skills throughout this activity as they rolled the playdough out, pulling and stretching it out as well as squashing and squeezing it through their fingers.
We have also been spending time getting creative as we have been taking part in a painting activity, the children showed great control as they held the paintbrushes in their preferred hand and began to make marks in different ways. Some of the children even used their hands and fingers to create different marks on their paper going up and down as well as round and round. "Wow" they said excitedly as they noticed the marks left on their paper. "Oohh what's that?" a member of staff asked the children as they were painting, "daddy" one responded enthusiastically. The children showed lots of excitement throughout this activity; laughing and giggling along with their peers.
Well done to our Little Squirrels.
Happy Monday little owls!
This morning we have been developing our fine motor skills by using string to wrap round the gaps in the pinecones, the children demonstrated excellent hand eye coordination and concentration while working in partnership with eachother.
The children used language such as 'pull, push and wrap' throughout the activity and showed brilliant determination when it got a little bit tricky.
Great job little owls!
Happy Monday Little Squirrels!
In our tuff tray today we have had hidden objects in ice. We have shown great enthusiasm for exploring the texture of the ice . We have shown excellent concentration and used our fine motor skills to pick up the little hammers and tap the ice. Some children said "bang bang" as we used the hammers to try and get the objects out. Some children were able to identify the objects in the ice and said "sheep " and also identified sounds "baaa" . When the ice melted we used our hands to make splashes . This was very funny and we giggled as we got a bit wet.
In addition today we have had sensory bags on the table filled with different things such as; flour, paint and hair gel. We have shown excitement for this as we used our preferred hand to explore the different textures . We giggled when the contents of the bag moved when we dragged our fingers across and when we pressed our whole hand on the bag.
Well done to all of our Little Squirrels.
Happy Friday Little Owls
What a wonderful day we have had. In the small tuff tray we have had a variety of flowers. Using the magnifying glass we looked at the different parts of the flower like the petals and the stem and talked about what colours we could see.
On the table the children have been practicing their fine motor skills threading the new beads onto the laces. The children have used their thumb and finger to hold the bead while they pushed the laces through. While we threaded we talked about the colours they could see and counted the beads they used.
Have a lovely weekend Little Owls.
Happy Friday Little Squirrels!
Today our Little Squirrels have been very busy taking part in our creative activity. The children showed great control as they held the crayons in their preferred hands to create their marks, the children were amazed as they looked down at the paper to see the wonderful masterpieces they had created, they were able to move their hands in different ways such as up and down as well as round and round. "What's that?" a staff member asked as they pointed to the marks on the paper, "car" the child responded proudly. "Oh wow!" Another child said excitedly as they pointed to the marks their crayon has left on the paper.
We have also been very busy exploring in the tuff tray with the cornflakes. The children showed great control and concentration as they used the spoons to scoop up the cereal before tipping them into their bowl. We thought it was very funny as we poured the cornflakes out of the bowl into the tray again "all gone" one child said as they did this. We have also been exploring the taste of the cornflakes using their hands to grasp handfuls and putting them in their mouths "mmm" they all said.
Well done to all of our Little Squirrels, we hope you all have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all next week for a fun-filled week!
Graduation 2024
What a wonderful day we had celebrating the school children leaving us on the next step of their learning journey. It was wonderful to see so many parents and carers come along to celebrate this special day. I am sure you will all agree each and every child was absolutely amazing standing on the stage, with great confidence and singing with huge smiles on their faces. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and wish you well on your forward journey.
Wow what a messy day we are having today in Little Badgers! We have investigated the shaving foam and inter stars. Using their hands they have moved the foam around the tray to find the inter stars then using both hands to connect the inter stars together to create a variety of different shapes. Some children clapped their hands as they had the foam on them, giggles could be heard through the room as they did this.
In the creative area we have used our senses to create some natural sticky pictures using some leaves and lavender. The children expressed themselves creatively as they used the glue spreaders to smother the glue across their paper and decided which natural objects they wanted to create their very own masterpiece. One badger said the glue was “sticky” and another said that the lavender “smells nice”. Once they are dry we will be displaying them on our wall in our art gallery.
Outside in the garden the children have worked as a team to line up the large blocks and crates to make a long path where they took it in turns to walk and balance along. The children showed great determination as they did this and pride in their achievements once they had reached the end of the path.
We have created some mud marks in the large tray using mud and water mixing them both together and used large physical movements with our arms to move some branches around the tray to create some wonderful muddy marks.brillantbrillant
The children have used their imaginations with the basket today pretending it was a boat. We sang row row row your boat together a which they were all engaged in singing and doing the actions.
Have a brillant weekend everyone!
What a busy week we have had this week in foxes room. 🦊

We hope you all have a wonderful weekend from the foxes team! 🦊
What a lovely day our Little Squirrels have had...
We have been using the shapes and bubble paints to create our masterpiece. He children made different prints, stamping the shapes all over their paper. "Star" one child excitedly said as they made a star print. "Bubble pop" another said as they used their fingers to pop the paint. "Wow" another said as they looked down in amazement at their picture.
We have also been exploring in the pink shaving foam today. The children used their hands to feel the foam and make various marks. "1, 2, 3" they shouted before clapping their hands and making the foam go everywhere! We also added the cars into the foam to create marks. "Beep beep" we said as the children pushed the cars back and forth. We also spent time hiding the cars in the foam.
Well done everyone!
Happy Thursday Little Hedgehogs
Today has been a day all about mark making in various ways and it's been lovely to see all of the babies getting involved in one way or another. We began by exploring what marks we could make using some vehicles in the paint. The babies were able to hold the vehicles in their hands, promoting their fine motor skills, and then dip them in the paint before manuovering around on the paper to leave marks. We modelled language such as the noise of the vehicles and vehicles names while doing this to encourage the babies to copy sounds and words.
After this some of the babies moved over to the chalk reel where again they began to investigate the marks they could make using the chalk. We did find that some of the babies did prefer to eat the chalk aswell as using it for mark making however we did end up with some fabulous colourful pictures. Well done Little Hedgehogs 🦔
Happy Thursday Little Badgers 😊
Today we have been exploring shapes identifying them through their names, and their different sizes where the children have used a variety of mathematical language which was lovely to hear. The children have also used their preferred hand to show great control using different techniques such as dibbing and dabbing before making the shape imprints on their paper mixing colours together and noticing the changes in cause and effect.
The children have also been reading stories based all around numbers where the children have shown great awareness of numbers and counting in numerical order whilst counting different objects in the story.
Well done Little Badgers we will look forward to exploring again tomorrow ❤️
Happy Thursday little owls 🦉
Today in little owls we have been helping Kim to make some beautiful blue playdough , we spoke about quantities such as "more flour" "a little bit of salt", we worked well together taking turns amd listening well to the instructions Kim had gave them. They the spent a long time creating cupcakes, sausages and other yummy food!!
A little later in the afternoon we have been outside exploring in the garden , we have been joining in with our friends doing our obstacle course ,we started by jumping in the tyres and then climbing over our climbing wall then onto our wooden balancing logs before running to the finish line, well done owls!
What a lovely Wednesday we have all had in Little Badgers today!
This morning the children have all been demonstrating wonderful listening skills during group time before all taking turns choosing their favourite songs before all singing loud and clear copying the actions to those selected rhymes chosen. Some of the children's favourite rhymes were 'five current buns' and 'five speckled frogs' where they all showed great awareness of early numbers and counting in a sequence, which was lovely to hear. Great singing Little Badgers.
The children have also been busy developing their fine motor skills through attaching pencils to the back of the different size vehicles, to manoeuvre around in various directions to create an array of marks. Throughout this learning opportunity the children have been discussing about what their marks represented using a variety of descriptive words. This afternoon the children have been busy joining in the celebrations wishing England good luck making their own England flags with red paint, lollypop sticks and white paper. Throughout making their own flags the children used their preferred hand to hold tools showing great control.
Well done Little Badgers we will look forward to seeing you all tomorrow
