Very pleased to have supported the proposal to provide care leavers and care experienced people in Bassetlaw with protected status at tonight's meeting of Bassetlaw District Council. Thank you Cllr Rhodes for proposing this. I spoke about the challenges faced by care leavers and the widespread stigma and discrimination that continues to exist. Bassetlaw now becomes the 33rd local council to provide protected characteristic status and we call upon the UK Government to do the same.
