South Leverton Permaculture
Weekly Veg Box delivery’s of locally grown produce sourced from sustainably managed land.
If you enjoy the comforts of home on Valentines evening but still want to enjoy a tasty meal without the effort we have popped together a menu where we do all of the hard work for you.
Our menu is £30 for two people and this includes a starter, main, dessert and choice of two sides.
The pork main is for two people. All other dishes can be ordered as individual portions.
If you would like to order, please just drop us a message with your menu choices.
All orders will need to be collected on Saturday 11 February.
LOGS/STICKS/WOOD
We’ve been clearing out all the non-native trees to our new woodland, so we have lots of softwood logs, as well as sticks ready to order.
Anything from a 10Kg net to a Ton, predominately Norwegian pine, though we can supplement this with various hardwoods that we’ve been clearing too if necessary.
All the trees cut down will of course be replanted with native species in the spring, making the wood entirely carbon neutral.
We also have an acre of bio-fuel willow we’ve begun to put back into rotation: perfect for log burners as it burns slow and hot. This again can be done to any amount required.
Nets can be delivered every Saturday along with our veg deliveries, but please allow at-least 48 hours notice for ton crates.
Drop us a DM for information on prices and delivery schedules
NOTICE REGARDING EGG PRICES:
We have had 3 price increases in the past 3 months from our egg suppliers, due to increased production costs and avian flu.
For the past few months we’ve been selling our eggs at a small loss, but with the latest price increase we have no choice but to pass this onto our customers. As of next Saturday, eggs will be £1.50 per 1/2 dozen… this is still substantially cheaper than the supermarkets, which are selling A-grade organic eggs at around £2, but we appreciate that it is a sizeable increase in our previous costs. We have tried to shield our customers from any price increases as production costs continue to go up for us, but with the latest price hike for the eggs we would simply be unable to provide them at a lower cost.
Thank you to all our customers for your continued and loyal support
Hi everyone, I know we’ve been quiet on here for the past few month, but we’ve had a LOT on.
Now that actual groundwork has all begun, we are very happy to announce that we’ll be moving in the new year.
We’ve bought a stunning 7 acre plot on the edge of the village (still in South Leverton) to greatly expand what we’ll be able to produce.
We’ve got a gorgeous 3/4 acre heritage orchard that’s been unloved for a very long time that David is slowly working his way through.
As well as a few acres of woodland: big plans for natural mushroom cultures in there.
We will also (hopefully) be able to double our veg production, with the size of the pasture field, which we are in the middle of turning so it’s suitable for crop production.
Finally, we have a massive variety of Nottinghamshire willow, which our area used to be famous for, we are currently looking for buyers for some of this, though much of it will be used by Sharron, as she has started learning how to weave traditional fencing for the new site.
This has been a very long time in the making and we are SO exited for what the spring will bring!!
I’d just like to take a moment to thank every single person that’s bought off us in the last 18 months, the reception we’ve received has been amazing and none of this would have been possible without our customers, so thank you so so much to everyone that’s made this possible for us… we’ve got big things ahead!!

This weeks medium and large boxes will contain the ingredients to make a beautiful Tomato and Bean sauce
Chop your tomatoes, coat with olive oil and salt and place in the oven for 25 minutes
Dice your onions and sweat down in a pan, add your peppers then mushrooms. When your tomatoes are ready add to your pan along with your garlic. Pod your beans and chop your kohlrabi leaves (remove the stem) place in boiling water for 5 minutes or until leaves are wilted add to your sauce just before serving along with your basil.
It’s you want it spicy add chilli with your garlic, eat as a vegetarian dish or add fish or meatballs to your sauce.
Plenty of broad beans ready for tomorrow’s orders
Legumes like broad beans are nitrogen fixers, so improve soil quality for other crops when grown.
Plenty of mange tout and runners coming up too, we just didn’t want to over-bean the boxes this week, but we’ll have various types of beans/peas weekly well into the autumn now

Hi guys, we’ve been getting similar feedback off a few different customers recently, so I thought I’d just clarify a few things about our produce:
The method of agriculture we employ is known as permaculture farming- this aims to regenerate degraded land through various methods, including an increase of crop diversity, omitting the use of inorganic chemicals and increasing topsoil depth.
Because of this, NONE of our crops are treated with any forms of pesticide/insecticide/rodenticide in any way- this means occasionally there may be a little nibble from a bug (especially on brassicas) however we wash all our produce thoroughly and it is more than safe to eat.
We also use no form of preservatives to extend the shelf life of our crops, such as rapid hydro-cooling or irradiation, as this removes many of the important alkenes and bacteria that provide vegetables with taste and nutritional value. Everything we put in your boxes has been out the ground (at MAXIMUM) 72 hours before delivery, but our produce will not last as long as what you buy in the supermarkets.
In regards to our partners, we use local farms to produce items we are unable to, primarily local glasshouses to extend the season of things such as tomatoes. Anything you buy from us is grown within 20miles of South Leverton and although we’ve not convinced anyone to stop using fertilisers, no pesticides are used and we collect these items as they are picked, before they are sent for further industrial processes.
We entirely understand that this is not what everyone is after, however we believe this is both the healthiest and most environmentally friendly way to provide veg to our local area.
With that said, if anyone ever has an queries or complaints, feel feee to message us and we will happily rectify it, we’re never going to short anyone a cabbage
As always thank you to everyone of of our customers for your continued and loyal support. We couldn’t do any of this without you x

Plenty of colour back in the boxes are we creep closer to summer, all our produce is either grown by ourselves, or sourced very locally, so we are confined by the seasons tremendously
We really do appreciate our weekly customers sticking with swedes and cabbages in the frosty months, but as the weather gets better our boxes will be having far more variety
Just a reminder that we are starting an independent salad box as of next week, lots of leafy greens, radish, pea shoots and spring onions to begin with whilst we wait for the tomatoes and cucumbers to start fruiting- phots and prices will be posted when we open for next weeks orders x
