Fun little Giraffe painting I did a few weeks ago in a break between work (at the end of the album). A long awaited gift for my cousin! 🦒

Don’t mind me, I’m just organising pictures into albums ☺️ Currently back doing Scenic Artist work so have been very inactive on here but thanks for sticking with me! 💛

🥳Happy New Year🥳

Just wanted to jump on here and wish you all a Happy New Year, and I hope you all have a happy, healthy and more social(!) year than whatever that was!

I’ve been having a little break from social media but wanted to show you some projects I got to work on towards the end of 2020 ☺️

I just wanted to say a big thank you for all of the support last year. Due to the pandemic my industry, along with many others, came to a standstill and painting kept me a little bit more sane- so thank you for every like, comment, share and for every purchase! 💛🌈🌏👩🏽‍🎨

I won’t be able to take on any painting commissions at the minute but as soon as I can I keep you posted!

Here’s to a happy 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣1️⃣ 💛

Hi All! Just popping on here to say I’m baackk! I’ve had a little break since Inktober but I’m back and the creative juices are flowing (🤞🏼hopefully🤞🏼). I’m hoping to get my Etsy shop up and ready again for the run up to Christmas, but also please drop me a message if you have any commission requests 💕
Anyway, I worked on some slates during the month of October that I didn’t get around to sharing so I’ll pop them on here ASAP. I don’t have many slates left but if I get a lot of requests for them I can make an order for more.. but as I said earlier please do get in touch for any kind of request (not just slates!) as I would love some creative projects to get stuck into! Stay tuned for Etsy news soon 💛

This slate was such a joy to paint for a family friend. The two photographs I was given were so lovely and I really hope I’ve done them justice 💕

Inktober Day 31. Halloween! 🎃Well that’s it! My first Inktober is over, and who better to finish with than the Pumpkin King himself. I have been very grateful for the creative distraction this month and the challenge of creating something everyday has been tough but very fun! It’s amazing how much I feel like I’ve improved and how much quicker I can draw and know how the ink is going to behave a little better. Thank you to the creators of the Witchy Hut prompt list, it has been a spooky ride and I’ve loved seeing everyone else’s entries everyday! Now time for a break... Happy Halloween! 👻🧛🏼‍♀️🦇🎃

30/10/2020

Inktober Day 30. Vampire🧛🏼‍♂️I visited Whitby Abbey recently and I loved the references to Dracula, so here’s the man himself! 🧛🏼‍♀️🦇

29/10/2020

Inktober Day 29. Spiderweb 🕸
A quick one today but I don’t hate it! I can’t believe there’s only two days left of Inktober! 🕷

28/10/2020

Inktober Day 28. Owl 🦉
Another Harry Potter themed day, but at least I’m consistent 😂⚡️✨

27/10/2020

Inktober Day 27. Gravestone👻
Loved doing this spooky little graveyard!

26/10/2020

Inktober Day 26. Elf 🧝🏼‍♀️
Well this one did not go well 😂 Which is actually sooo annoying because I really enjoyed making it! The proportions are all off l and it’s obviously not right, but I’ve decided to post it and document it as a day completed even though I’m not happy with it. I know there’s a bit of wiggle room as she is an elf and doesn’t have to be completely anatomically correct but I mean... 😂 here’s to tomorrow’s! 👻🧝🏼‍♀️✨

25/10/2020

Inktober Day 25. Spell 💫
I like the cartoon style of this one. In the past few days I’ve found myself experimenting more with skin and how I can use ink to define shapes really simply. I like how loose I’ve let my style become compared to how I would normally paint 🖤🧙🏼‍♀️

Inktober Day 24. Demon 😈
I think I envisioned a much more evil looking demon but he ended up looking more angelic! So I’ll say he is beginning his transformation into a demon to make myself feel better 😂😇🖤

23/10/2020

Inktober Day 23. Bat 🦇
Frikkin Bats. I love Holloween 🔮🦇

22/10/2020

Inktober Day 22. Witch/Wizard🧙🏼‍♀️✨
‘Bellatrix Lestrange’. It took a while to get into the swing of this one, I just couldn’t settle on a pose and then I kept thinking someone else would be easier (there’s too many witches/wizards to choose from!!). But I stuck with it and it will do! Everytime I do an inktober, I end up wishing I could spend a few days on each subject rather than just a quick little drawing, but honestly it’s so lovely drawing whatever I feel like! 💀🌚

21/10/2020

Inktober Day 21. Cauldron🧙🏼‍♀️
Have to post early today.. Messed this one up at the beginning but I think I managed to salvage it enough! I wanted to do a witch with the cauldron but noticed that tomorrow’s prompt is a witch! 👩🏽‍🔬🧪🔮

20/10/2020

Inktober Day 20. Eyes 👀
I really enjoyed doing today’s prompt, it’s simple but I think it really works! And it’s pretty spooky 👻

Photos from Scarlett McLean Art's post 19/10/2020

Inktober Day 19. Wings🦇
Another Harry Potter themed drawing but it fit so perfectly! 🐴⚡️🦅

18/10/2020

Inktober Day 18. Poison🧪
A couple of poisonous mushrooms for today’s prompt. I have found that over Inktober, one of my favourite things to do is a Smokey background, I think it looks really effective but is also super quick! Happy Sunday! 🍄👻☠️

17/10/2020

Inktober Day 17. Mouse🐭
A sweet little Halloween decorated Mouse Door 🏠🎃👻

16/10/2020

Inktober Day 16. Crow 🦅
“You can fight, you can fly and you can crow!” Here is my speedy little Inktober of Rufio from one of my favourite films ever “Hook” ☠️⚓️ I really really would’ve loved to have given this one more time and made it a nice and detailed painting, but I saw crow and had to paint him, so a speedy little version it had to be! 🏔🧚🏼✨

15/10/2020

Inktober Day 15. Snake🐍
I’m excited for the weekend when I can put a little bit more thought and effort into my Inktober’s but here is yet another quick and simple painting for today’s prompt. It is kind of interesting what you come up with when you see the prompt and just jump straight in without any planning. FYI I’m pretttyyy scared of snakes haha so the less detail the better on this guy ☠️🧪

14/10/2020

Inktober Day 14. Spellbook🧙🏼‍♂️📙
This was a very quick and simple one as I’ve had a busy day but glad I could still complete today’s prompt! Also what’s not to like about a fat stack of books ✨📓🔮

13/10/2020

Inktober Day 13. Potion🧙🏼‍♂️🔮
My days are about to get a lot busier so I’ve had to be quicker with my drawings which is sad as I was enjoying it so much- but I think it will be fun to change it up a little bit. Today’s prompt was a little bit inspired by the film ‘Practical Magic’ and the shelves and shelves of potion ingredients, I hope you like it! 🧪✨

12/10/2020

Inktober Day 12. Wand🧙🏼‍♀️
The Wand Chooses the Wizard Mr Potter! ⚡️ Here’s a little section of Ollivander’s wand shop front! This would’ve been very easy to get sucked into and spend ages and ages on getting every last detail but I tried my best to keep it simple and quick. Definitely went over an hour but that was just trying to get the drawing down. This was definitely one of my favourites to do! 🧙🏼‍♀️🦇✨

11/10/2020

Inktober Day 11. Hat 🎩🐇
A quick little rabbit in a magic hat for today’s prompt! ✨

Photos from Scarlett McLean Art's post 10/10/2020

Inktober Day 10. Beetle 👻
I watched Beetlejuice recently and it felt fitting to get him into Inktober somehow. This drawing took a bit longer than an hour but I’m ok with that! 👻🍌

09/10/2020

Inktober Day 09. Galaxy 🌌💫Loved painting today’s prompt, and even got to do a bit of splattering! 🪐🌙✨

08/10/2020

Inktober Day 08. Moon 🌝
I was hoping to draw a werewolf but when it came to it I just wanted something simple so just did a little nod to werewolf’s instead! Loved doing a black background for this one, I like how it makes the moon so bright 🌙✨

Photos from Scarlett McLean Art's post 07/10/2020

Inktober Day 07. Cat 🐈🧙🏼‍♀️
I know it’s an obvious choice but here is a spooky little black cat in a hat! A whole week of Inktober done and I’m really enjoying it! It’s so nice to draw things that I’ve never drawn before. Thank you for all of the support so far ✨

Photos from Scarlett McLean Art's post 06/10/2020

Inktober Day 06. Tarot 🔮
I just had the biggest mental block with this one, so I ended up just winging it and seeing where it took me. It’s not my favourite but there’s parts of it I really like. I also thought I’d show off the gold a little more here as the photos never seem to do it justice- the pigment is amazing!

Photos from Scarlett McLean Art's post 05/10/2020

Inktober Day 05. Mask
I know it’s technically more of a helmet buuuttt it covers the face and they’re so scary. And in Scooby Doo they ‘Unmask’ a ghost wearing this outfit so we can’t argue with Scooby Doo logic 🌊🏊🏼‍♀️👻

Photos from Scarlett McLean Art's post 04/10/2020

Inktober Day 04. Skull
A simple and sassy skeleton for day four💀💎

Inktober Day 03. Ghost 👻

Timeline photos 02/10/2020

Inktober Day 02. Pumpkin
I debated not posting today’s Inktober because I really don’t like how this one turned buuut I guess it’s good to be honest (and I really don’t have the time to redo it 😂). I experimented and tried something a little different and I ended up not liking the result but I really enjoyed playing with the gold and painting the clouds so I guess I can take that from it. Onto the next day! 🎃🦇👻

Inktober Day 01. Moth
Here we goooooo happy Inktober/October 🎃🦇👻
I ended up not doing any practise with ink haha so I’m hoping to gradually get better throughout October. Aiming to keep each drawing to no more than an hour if possible to keep it a bit more loose and less stressy. Looking forward to making my way through the wonderful Witchy Hut prompts. Happy Creating! 🎨

~For anyone that doesn’t know, Inktober is an Art Challenge that lasts for the month of October where you follow a prompts list and create a piece of Art each day. It focuses on improving skills and developing good art habits!

Was so nice to paint this lovely portrait onto a slate. I have missed painting portraits and this was such a lovely picture to get me back into them! 💛🎨

This page isn’t for my Scenic Artist work but I thought it would be nice to share a little snippet of what I used to get up to before the Rona closed the industry..

After months of being away from the industry, I was very lucky to join the team painting the BBC Proms floor at the Royal Albert Hall for my first job back! We spent two long nights painting the geometric floor and it looked great on the TV. Such a shame that seats had to stay empty this year but wonderful that we still got to watch at home 🎭🎨 (also thank you to the WhatsApp group for a few of these pics!! And last photo credit to BBC Proms images)

Enjoyed painting this little personalised Disney gift a few weeks ago🐭🦆✨
