Your SAFETY is so important to me ⚠️ Because injectable treatment is not regulated in the UK, anyone (yes anyone) can do these treatments provided they can get some insurance… and even then, a patient hadn’t ever asked me to show them I have insurance myself!!! I would say more than half the patients I see for dermal filler who’ve had it before elsewhere, had no idea a risk of treatment was BLINDNESS. Yes - you can go blind from filler anywhere in the face. Around 1/2000 people can also have a life threatening allergic reaction to the dissolving agent for filler. The dissolving agent that reverses filler and the life saving drug adrenaline both have to be prescribed by a medical professional. So as talented as some ‘non medics’ may be at creating pretty lips, they can’t actually keep these emergency drugs in stock (legally). This can lead to delays in critical treatment and yes, your life can genuinely be at risk. This isn’t to slate non medical providers, it is to educate you and protect you. Also - ANYONE in the UK can call themselves a nurse. It is illegal to call yourself a ‘registered nurse’, dentist or doctor if you aren’t. Therefore you can technically say ‘advanced aesthetics nurse’ having been on a one day course as a plumber and no one can challenge you. 🫠😵‍💫 Please do your research. Any genuine registered healthcare professional will have a registration number with a governing body who holds you accountable. Finally - if someone says they need to get your anti wrinkle injection ‘prescribed’ and they make a phone call, this is also not allowed (by them or their prescriber). All prescriptions MUST be done after a face to face consultation by the medic prescribing … not over the phone. If these corners are being cut (to save money or due to them being lazy) what else is being done behind your back?

Do you need your filler dissolving? ❓💧 I frequently receive messages from patients who have previously had treatment elsewhere and either changed their mind about it, don’t like the results or have encountered some problems with the soft tissue filler. Sometimes they don’t need any corrective work and are simply looking to have more filler added by me. A question that generally comes with this, is ‘will you have to dissolve my filler?’. Each case is unique, so to advise you personally we will need an in-person consultant so I can assess the existing filler properly and thoroughly and decide with you the best action moving forwards. Filler dissolving can be booked via my website booking link. You might have heard me talk about risks of having filler, but did you know there are also risks of dissolving it? One of the most important is allergic reaction. Although rare, some people can actually have a life threatening anaphylactic reaction to the hyaluronidase dissolving agent. That’s one reason why having non-surgical cosmetic procedures with a medical professional is so important. Not only will I always do a sensitivity patch test prior to dissolving any filler, I also have in my clinic a medical emergency kit including potentially life saving adrenaline. Alongside this, I am trained in the identification and acute management of anaphylaxis. Are aesthetic treatments for me? When I refer to aesthetics treatments, I simply mean any procedure that aims to improve the way you look and in my opinion, also improves how you FEEL! There is a huge spectrum of procedures, products and technology available to aesthetics clinicians today and that is something I love about what I do. I have been so shocked recently at the number of patients I am seeing who have had dermal filler treatment elsewhere in the past, that weren’t told about some of the serious risks and complications of filler. These problems can happen even in the most careful, experienced hands, although they are less likely to. There are more than those listed in this video (which are discussed thoroughly in a consultation before going ahead with any treatment), however key risks to consider include: • Swelling • Bruising • Bleeding • Infection • Lumps and bumps forming that mean the filler needs to be dissolved • Scarring • Blindness • Stroke Although the last 3 are extremely rare, it doesn’t mean they aren’t possible. There are multiple things I do at each stage of treatment to minimise the chance of these things happening, and so should any practitioner injecting into somebody’s face. Exactly how I minimise complication risk is for another video, but it is important to understand they are always there. Things that should happen when you have dermal filler treatment: 1. Risks discussed with you 2. Your medical history taken in detail 3. A clinical examination in person 4. Consent discussed 5. Skin cleaned (for example with a disinfectant wipe) 6. Clinicians hands cleaned, gloves worn 7. Needles in to a sharps bin (big yellow bin) 8. Aftercare advice given and contact details for if you have any concerns This should be expected of ANY clinician treating you. Dermal filler injections are a medical procedure.
