Visit VOLT gallery this Saturday for the launch of Riviera by Navine G. Dossos ()🪬
Navine G. Dossos has worked with over 50 Eastbourne residents through the creation of 24 stencils relating to the neighbourhood: its history, its population, its businesses, its flora and fauna and its location in the town. Together they have developed a Devonshire Ward-specific language of symbols, featuring palm trees, local gelato, a movie camera and the pier. These elements have been brought together by Dossos to fashion a rich and vibrant textile.
The community is now invited to come together at VOLT, take 2m of fabric each, for free, to then create a variety of items and clothing of their own.
Riviera is a public art commission led by Towner Eastbourne () in collaboration with Devonshire Collective (), supported by Eastbourne ALIVE.

Emma Mason Gallery Presents: Forms of Land & Sea by Rob Peel, opening on 24 May.
An exhibition of original prints by Sussex printmaker Rob Peel (1949-2019).
Rob Peel grew up in East Sussex and his memories of quiet, solitary adventures exploring the Downs or the harbour and coastline, provided constant inspiration for his work. Peel studied fine art at Birmingham School of Art and later in London.
The prints in this exhibition are all monotypes and each is a unique image. The images reflect the landscape and coastline around us in Sussex. Peel made his monotypes on the bed of his printing press using a combination of stencils, collage and drawing directly into the ink to produce a range of surfaces from which to build his prints.
10.00am - 4.00pm, Thursday - Saturday, 24 May - 22 June 2024. Free entry! All work will be for sale.
