The new government have already committed to introducing a new law to improve water quality. But the plans announced so far are still focused on tinkering with a BROKEN SYSTEM. We need a wholesale reform of the water system to break the never-ending cycle of pollution. ❌❌❌
And we need your help to make sure the new government doesn't get stuck tinkering around the edges... Follow the link below 🔗 to contact your MP to convince them to pledge to protect the ocean and call on them to support the call for a public inquiry to sort this mess out for good. ✊🌊

On 14 July SI Eastbourne carried out a beachclean on our adopted beach, Beach 68, helped by Sue and Beryl from SI East Grinstead. We recorded our findings on the Marine Conservation Society beachwatch app. The most alarming find was the 40 cm long metal spike poking out of the pebbles.

Last year we bought a Soda Stream which has made a big difference. We’ve hardly bought any drinks bottles in the last year. (Mainly when OH forgot we’d got the Soda Stream!
Three years ago I made reusable bin bags for our kitchen bin and we haven’t used a single plastic bin bag since then.
I wonder what changes we’ll be inspired to make this year?

Excellent event. Really thought provoking films. Still thinking about it almost a week on
A wonderful IWD Short Film Festival on Saturday at The Depot in Lewes put on by the Lewes Sorptimists club and University of Suss*x. Five films screened about projects around the world supporting women and children and six documentary films focusing on women made by graduates of University of Suss*x MA. A course set up by Wilma De Jong our late member. Over 80 attendees.
Photo at the networking drinks after the festival. We are hoping it will become an annual event.
🌟 Happy International Women's Day 2024! 🌟
Today, we celebrate the incredible achievements, resilience, and strength of women around the world. 🎉 At the heart of this celebration lies the spirit of empowerment and equality for all women, a cause that resonates deeply with Soroptimists International, and of course all of us at Nottingham Soroptimists.
As we honour this day, let's also shine a light on the inspiring work of Soroptimists around the world - a global organisation dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls. 💪👩🎓 Our mission to advocate for gender equality, provide access to education, promote economic empowerment, and end violence against women aligns perfectly with the goals of International Women's Day.
Let's continue to stand together in solidarity, support each other's journeys, and work towards a future where every woman and girl has the opportunity to thrive and fulfill her potential. 💫 Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world for all.
