Back from a lovely family holiday in Vilamoura with this lot - sunshine, beach, waterpark, boat trip, as well as lovely food, drinks and what felt like 500 games of Uno / Wizard (highly recommend Wizard - great game for holiday if you want a change from Uno 😂).

Is saving for a holiday part of your financial goals aswell? Like everything, holidays have got more expensive. But really focusing and cutting down on the not so important purchases (overpriced takeaway coffee for example!) can really help you reach that goal 🥰.

Big shout out to Sharon for keeping things going whilst I was away - your turn now for a well deserved rest!

Should I top up my State Pension - a question I am often asked. If you are unsure whether or not you are entitled to full state pension you can check by visiting www.gov.uk/check-state-pension.

To get the full State Pension, you now need 35 qualifying years of NICs. If you’ve got between 10 and 35, you’ll get a pro rata amount, but if you’ve got less than 10, you won’t be eligible for any State Pension.

Making a voluntary contribution to your State Pension pot could be an efficient way to put money towards your retirement, but it’s important to consider all the implications: https://ow.ly/QYmz50SmmgV

Thank you so much to the fabulous team at Strathcarron Hospice for organising yet another fantastic ladies lunch - a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Entertainment from 103.1 Central FM and Michelle McManus. And finally, one of the most inspirational speakers I have had the pleasure to meet, Laura McGowan, had us in both tears and laughter. Thinking about saving for your child's future? This is a really good read. But I’m still in shock at the average cost of raising a child from birth to 18 years old is £223K 😮.

Allocating money into different pots can really help create discipline and help you plan for the future. It also sends a positive message to your children about getting into good money habits early in life: https://ow.ly/vIx850RqV2m

Last week's market movements in 7 minuets...https://ow.ly/psNf50RlkNP

📈 A survey last year confirmed the chocolate digestive as the UK’s favourite biscuit. So, last week’s news that a fall in the price of chocolate biscuits had contributed to UK inflation hitting its lowest level in two-and-a-half years would have been welcomed by many.

Yet the March fall in inflation to an annual 3.2%, down from 3.4% in February, was less than expected.

“Where do you see yourself in ten years’ time?”

It used to be a favourite closing question in job interviews – and it could really put you on the spot. But imagining your career in ten years’ time can feel far easier than imagining yourself twenty or thirty years’ from now.

Asking ourselves those searching questions – how do I see my older self and what life am I leading? – could have a direct impact on how we save, and our long-term financial planning: https://ow.ly/NgIa50QZF18

Incase you haven’t noticed - it’s !

When I joined SJP in 2010 - there were alot of men in grey suits! I love the way it’s changed over the years with more women joining the industry.

It is also great to see more women planning their financial future and I’m lucky to help some lovely ladies achieve their goals.

So this weekend - I will be enjoying a glass or 2 of fizz with some lovely friends, supporting my daughter and her team mates play netball and playing in a netball match myself with some of my fellow Ferry Flyers ladies!

Have a great weekend everyone 🥰

Yesterday, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt announced his Spring Budget.

To the relief of many observers, the Chancellor unveiled a more optimistic fiscal landscape than anticipated, with lower inflation, more vigorous growth, and a forecasted decrease in debt relative to GDP.

So, what does the budget mean for you? https://ow.ly/68hX50QMNse

Keep a handle on higher taxes with pension and ISA planning 06/03/2024

For many people in the UK, pensions and ISAs remain the most popular and tax-friendly ways to save.

So, as we’re now paying the highest amount of tax in 70 years according to the OECD1*, it’s more important than ever to make the most of the tax savings opportunities: https://ow.ly/ANfN50QLuaI

Keep a handle on higher taxes with pension and ISA planning With the UK’s tax burden reaching its highest level since the 1950s, and the fastest-falling living standards in a generation, it’s more important than ever to combine your tax-efficient pension and ISA allowances.

What an incredible amount for such a great cause 🌟

We are delighted to announce that in 2023 the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has raised £9.5million, which brings the amount raised since the foundation was set up in 1992, to £130 million.

The Foundation supports small and medium sized charities across the UK and overseas working with disadvantaged children, hospices, mental health charities and cancer support charities. Thank you to our community who work tirelessly all year round to raise these funds, which are matched £1 for £1 by SJP.

It was so nice doing some voluntary work with Strathcarron Hospice and seeing all the amazing work they do. Such a lovely, friendly team 🥰

Volunteers are invaluable to your local Hospice. Without their help, expertise, kindness and generosity of time, we simply couldn't deliver all of our services.

Julie and Sharon from Hannon Financial Planning have been supporting our work for a number of years and this summer spent a full day volunteering with us.

Their Corporate Volunteering Day was two fold: in the morning they delivered a Pensions Training Session to some of our staff and volunteers - sharing their professional expertise and insight. Then in the afternoon, they spent some time with our Fundraising Team helping to source raffle prizes for our upcoming events.

This was incredible learning opportunity for our staff while also helping to raise the profile of Julie and Sharon's business. The benefits of volunteering are mutual. The pair were also brilliant at sourcing raffle prizes 😍 .

We're always keen to hear from people and businesses who would like to offer their time and expertise to help their local Hospice.

If your business offers a volunteering day independently or via online systems e.g. Neighbourly and you'd like to explore more about what you can do with Strathcarron, please get in touch with our Volunteer Service Co-ordinator, Eileen Ashford on Tel. No. 01324 826222 Ext 271 or e-mail [email protected].

We'd love to hear from you and have a chat!

Happy New Year! I hope you and your families had a great time over the festive period!

I don’t really follow the “new year, new me” mantra but it is nice to set some goals. One of mine is to be better on social media. Our last quarter was one of the busiest I’ve experienced so it definitely took a back seat.

You may have already set some resolutions / goals but starting the year right with some healthy money habits can be something to add.

January is the perfect time to kickstart better financial wellbeing for you and your loved ones. Here are our key resolutions to fuel your journey towards financial wellbeing: https://ow.ly/FbGa50QnOtK

Teaching children about money from an early age sets them up for a lifetime of financial confidence. 💪 Here are a few tips:

Start early: Introduce the concept of money and savings in a fun and age-appropriate way.
Allowance: Give them an allowance to manage, helping them learn budgeting and saving.
Money talks: Encourage open conversations about spending, saving, and wise financial choices.
