I popped back to this project to put handles on today and they look great

A recent close up of a wardrobe door. The client decided they would like to paint the wardrobe. There is a place for spraying and also painting in situ.
A bare finish will reduce the cost of the project but you are left with a unfinished job and you will have to paint or get a decorator in to finish
One factor to consider is the finish spraying gives to a project. When done correctly it makes a statement and looks amazing
Theses are not the only reasons to consider just a few thoughts

Bespoke bench seat with storage underneath fitted in Edinburgh. Need help with more storage in your home?

A bespoke bed fitted in a small bedroom in between two walls. The space was just big enough for a single mattress. The client asked if the drawer fronts could be set back so that when sitting on the bed the handles wouldn’t knock on the back of her legs
After some thought and planning - ta da!
The bed was sprayed a light cream colour the match an existing wardrobe in the bedroom

I’ll be back in the spray booth this week. One more job to spray before I take some time off. Looking forward to an extended break away from the tools, the emails and to spend time with the family. It’s been a great start to the year - thank you for all the support!

This customer had a rough idea of what they wanted. After seeing the drawing on SketchUp they decided it would be good to add one more row of shelves to get more storage/books in the bookshelf.

The colour is matched to Farrow and Ball ‘Wimborne White’.

This is a bespoke unit I made for a under utilised space in a kitchen. There was a small food rack there originally and the client liked the idea of more storage. Who wants bespoke furniture? 🙋🏻‍♂️

I had just built their bespoke bookcase in their lounge room - check out the previous post. They asked me to build another bespoke unit to tie in with the existing kitchen.

From an empty space with a door bell and light switch to plenty of storage

Up cycled old wardrobe doors and turned them into alcove units for this lounge in Edinburgh. There weren’t enough doors for the entire project so I bought MDF sheets to finish the build

I popped back to this job this morning to tidy up the cables for the lighting and take a few photos. I’m pleased with how it’s turned out. My first angled job with lighting and beading inside the doors. This project was a great challenge overall and I’m delighted that the customer is delighted with the end result
The area is now transformed into a useful workspace with amble storage

A bespoke library I made and installed earlier this week. The work was part of a full house renovation in Edinburgh - check out for more pictures on their progress.

The unit is going to be used for storage for kids toys down below (Hiding all the children’s stuff ) 🙈
and a display for books and pictures above.
I primed all the cabinetry in the workshop. It will be decorated on site with a lovely F&B colour.

A bespoke bookcase I installed for a lovely client in Corstorphine. She was so great she paid me before I walked out the door
This was made out of oak veneer MDF and I used kiva 30 to seal it as it was very close to the bathroom and I didn’t want any moisture to affect the bookcase

1 year ago this weekend I decided with my wife’s encouragement to start up what is now Align Joinery.

The world was in the middle of a pandemic and things seemed uncertain. Thankfully that didn’t put me off.

One year on and the work has steadily kept coming in. Thank you to all the clients that have given me work!

I have been challenged in more ways than I ever have, working for someone else. I have also learnt more and been much more satisfied at the end of each job.

Thanks to family and friends who continue to support me and to the other tradesmen I have met along the way - your knowledge, experience and friendship has been appreciated

I look forward to the next working year and many more to come.

A kitchen I fitted in Edinburgh. It’s 99% finished. I’m going to pop back and put the bottom trim around an overhead cabinet.
I needed to cut down the cornice around the overheads to keep the worktops at a standard height.
All in all both the client and I are pleased with the result.
Back to the workshop next week to start the next job which I’m looking forward too!

Almost 5 years since I left my life is Australia to go and volunteer for an incredible organisation called

I will always have great memories of the 10 months I spent onboard.
