The Highlands of Scotland are filled with beauty, but also decay. In the barren landscape of Caithness, there is an abundance of ruined cottages, like this one at Forse, south of Wick. There are many possible reasons for this, Highland clearances of the 18th / 19th centuries, or possibly those that simply left for a better life. Whatever the reason, the cottages have their own beauty as they stand in the wilderness. Who lived there? Why did they leave? Where did the people go? They pose so many questions. Having driven the road many times, hugging the north east coastline, this particular cottage has always stood out, and deserved to be photographed.

Rattray Head is quite simply a beautiful little Stevenson Lighthouse located between Fraserburgh and Peterhead, just off the coastline. Accessible by foot at low tide, you are surrounded by a stunning beach and wild coast.

Today has been a wonderful experience on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides.

The distillery was a must visit, with the necessary purchase of both their iconic Gin and their first batch of Single Malt Whisky.

Drummond Castle is located just outside of Crieff and less than 15 minutes from the iconic Gleneagles. This stunning 15th/17th century castle is a private residence. Home to spectacular gardens, which are amongst the finest in Europe. The gardens played the role of Versailles in Season two of the Outlander series.

Today's itinerary includes a visit to the magnificent Scone Palace. Famed for the crowning of Scottish Kings from 843 including the famous Macbeth and Robert the Bruce. Owned by the Murray family Earls of Mansfield, this stunning rebuilt palace from the early 19th century is a must visit.

Yesterday was a visit to Duart Castle on the Isle of Mull. Clan Seat of Clan MacLean. This is part of a 4 day tour with clients from the USA, seeking out their family heritage.

While our clients were exploring their heritage castle, we were working on a plan in the background.

As a complete surprise to them we arranged an introduction of our clients to their Chief, Sir Lachlan MacLean the 28th Clan Chief.

The Battle of Bannockburn 23/24 June 1314 is one of the most Iconic battles in Scottish history. The famed King of Scots, Robert the Bruce led his army to victory over the much greater English army of Edward 2nd. This would result in Scotland's freedom from occupation, marking the end of a long war and fulfilling the legacy of William Wallace.
