British Airways and EasyJet Plc may be among corporate beneficiaries of a vote to break up the United Kingdom, with the Scottish National Party pledging to cut a tax that carriers say makes a major dent in earnings.
The SNP has said the so-called air passenger duty would be cut in half and later scrapped should the party form an independent Scottish government after a “Yes” vote in a referendum next week, estimating the levy deters 2 million visitors a year.

World Cup in Qatar Could Shift From June to January
Soccer’s global governing body FIFA will consider moving the 2022 World Cup in Qatar to the winter to avoid the country’s stifling heat during June and July.
The two alternative dates — either January and February 2022 or November and December 2022 — were presented to a new task force. The group was established by the FIFA executive committee that looks at its international calendar in the six years from 2018, FIFA said on its website.

EasyJet to Add Amsterdam as a Base Next Year
EasyJet Plc will add Amsterdam to its list of bases next year, extending the discount carrier’s reach into European hub airports dominated by full-service rivals such as Air France-KLM Group and Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
The continent’s No. 2 discount carrier will base three Airbus A320 jets in the Dutch capital starting in 2015, a push it predicts will add 600,000 passengers, an increase of 16 percent. EasyJet plans to boost the number of routes flown from the KLM hub, beginning with Hamburg, Germany, this November.

Star Wars’ Creator George Lucas to Open Museum in Chicago
Chicago has been selected by “Star Wars” filmmaker George Lucas as the home of his “storytelling museum” that will feature the director’s collection of paintings, illustrations and digital art, Lucas and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said on Tuesday.
Chicago beat out San Francisco and Los Angeles as host city for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art (LMNA), which will present the history and evolution of the visual images.

World Cup visitors, welcome to Brazil, land of soccer, sun and sky-high prices.
Unlike nearby Latin American nations where a tourist’s U.S. dollar or European Union euro seemingly stretches forever, Brazil is astoundingly expensive.
If one’s budget isn’t immediately busted by the flight or the hotel, it will soon be done in by the $10 caipirinha cocktail, the $17 cheeseburger or the $35 pepperoni pizza. And those are the prices city-dwelling Brazilians saw even before the World Cup set off a new standard of sticker shock.
