Magical May moments! โœจ Lots of newness in May with a new job so I'm late to the game again! I'm busy ... but in the best ways! Still can't believe I now actually get paid to go to the place I used to pay to go to! ๐Ÿคญ @tribeyoga ! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜ My confidence and self belief as a yoga teacher has always been an obstacle to overcome - more work on manipura chakra for me! ๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ’› So, I'm beyond happy that I get to share this practice with others 5 days a week all while learning, growing and becoming a better teacher. "India is the last country you should visit. After this, no other place will be more interesting, crazy, and beautiful, all at the same time." โ€” Unknown Reflecting on one of the best experiences of my life. Two months and two yoga teacher trainings by the banks of Ma Ganga in Tapovan Rishikesh, India. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Since backpacking in India in 2012 I had always wanted to go back for a residential Yoga teacher training ... It took 10 years but I check it off the bucket list. ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป I'm so grateful to have had this opportunity and will always have immense gratitude to those who supported me and helped me make it happen. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป This experience started a whole host of changes in motion ... some that are really only becoming obvious now almost two years later! โœจ It was my first time travelling solo, organising and planning and executing every detail by my self for my self. I met some amazing people and created some of the best memories, learned a lot about myself and grew as both a person as well as a yoga teacher. Since returning, my life changed in so many ways and I've learned and grown and done even more solo. ๐Ÿ’› "I have everything I need within myself." This Scorpio full moon is all about change and transformation and change is the only constant in life.๐ŸŒ•โ™ Aparigraha: The Art of Letting Go is one of the five yamas or self restraints of living a yogic lifestyle. Much of human suffering comes from clinging to possessions, people, or even thoughts โ€” like focusing on how you want something in the future to turn out, or constantly reliving how something in the past did or didn't turn out. Non-attachment means you shouldnโ€™t depend on someone or something external for your own happiness and stability. You will find everything you actually need to be happy inside of you, if you take the time to look. I'm still learning how to do that in life while finding that santosa (contentment) within ... always. ๐Ÿ’š ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ•‰๏ธ #yogaisajourney #yogate

โ€œDo not wait until the conditions are perfect to begin. Beginning makes the conditions perfect.โ€ โ€” Alan Cohen Namaste, happy Tuesday and Happy New Year once again! ๐ŸŽ‡๐ŸŽ† I hope youโ€™re settling into 2023 well and fighting off any January blues with some rest and relaxation as we are now back to normal after the festive season. I hope youโ€™re going easy on yourself as we settle into this fresh new year. Set your goals and intentions but be compassionate with yourself if youโ€™re a little slow off the mark as we still are in the midst of winter stillness. This time of year can find us operating on low energy mode as itโ€™s a time for hibernation and rest! Know that you can make change at any time of the year you set your mind to. โœจ I'm recently getting properly back to my practice after the holidays and a previous winter slump. It's been such a help with my overall mood and wellbeing as I really find this time of year a struggle when it's dark so early in the evenings *and* in the mornings when I get up. This week I've been feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, renewed and positive about the year ahead - whatever it may bring I trust that I'm being guided down the right path for me. Flowing really fast here as I recorded in time lapse setting - 1 second in this clip equals 10 real life seconds! ๐Ÿ‡ Join me online this Thursday at 5:30pm and Saturday morning at 10:30am. Join me in person every Wednesday at 6pm in the lovely Santosa Wellness Centre Edinburgh I'll also be sharing a class at the Flare festival on January 21st! https://www.discoveryourflare.co.uk Check it out if you're in Edinburgh - it's going to be epic! ๐Ÿ’ซ I'll share more details soon! #yogaformentalhealth #yogasavedmylife #yogasavedme #yogaismorethanasana #yogaisawayoflife #yogareel #yogaflows #yogatimelapse #flowwithme #intheflow #flowstate

Highlights from A Week In Gran Canaria ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ
"Breathe, relax and feel; take time to slow downthe pace of life. Watch the rise and fall of moods, the birth and death of dreams. Feelings and sensations seem so real, yet they shift like changing clouds, and flow with the high tide out to sea again. Allow it all to be, noneed to grasp or push away. Present with each moment, the whole of you, body, mindand soul, open to receive." Being Present โ€” Danna Faulds Last Tuesday's Cancer New Moon was a moon to come home to ourselves. Great timing as I just arrived back from Gran Canaria on the same day! (Can't believe it's a week ago now!) ๐Ÿ™ƒ We stayed in Puerto de Mogรกn, the โ€˜Veniceโ€™ of Gran Canaria and I had a very relaxing time. I really & truly switched off for the first time in a long time & I decided not to do any social media updating so my screen time was well & truly reduced. We road tripped through the centre of the island, drove up winding roads to the islandโ€™s highest peak, Pico de las Nieves 1,949m & visited the largest city, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. We also did the usual beach holiday things of soaking up the sun, sand & sangria! ๐Ÿน I hardly spent any time on my phone and it was amazing! I only used it for taking photos, Google maps, an odd update to family and checking up restaurant recommendations, though with our dietary requirements - Brian is vegan AND gluten intolerant and Iโ€™m vegetarian - like in Tenerife, we quickly had our fill of Canarian potatoes & vegetable paellas when eating out. ๐Ÿฅ”๐Ÿฅ˜ Carb loading for laziness! ๐Ÿ˜‚ So we cooked in our Airbnb a lot. (Well Brian did ALL the cooking to be fair - heโ€™s a great cook.๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿปโ€๐Ÿณ) We had a terrace with a beach view & a small balcony so it was lovely to sit out with our meals. We even managed to catch a local festival Dia de San Juan/Saint Johnโ€™s Day which marks the summer solstice on the Thursday night. There was live music at the beach & a big bonfire & fireworks at midnight as the locals ran into the sea to wash aw

โ€ขโ€ข Bakasana / Crow pose jump back to Chaturanga Dandasana / Low push up โ€ขโ€ข
โ€ขโ€ข Bakasana / Crow pose jump back to Chaturanga Dandasana / Low push up โ€ขโ€ข This is a very fun, playful transition but it does require a decent amount of strength in the shoulders and you have to be fairly comfortable in both crow pose and chaturanga to begin with. โ‰๏ธ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ โ„น๏ธ From a low squat bring the feet together and plant the palms firmly on the mat. Grip with your fingertips and press all four corners of your palms into the mat. Bring the kneecaps onto the back of your upper arms and bend the arms almost ninety degrees like chaturanga, come up onto the balls of your feet and lean your weight forward, keeping your gaze forward to where you're leaning. โš ๏ธ If you look down between your hands you will go there if you lose your balance. You can put a pillow out in front of you if you're afraid you're going to face plant into the mat.โš ๏ธ โ„น๏ธ You can also place a block underneath your toes to elevate the floor so you have less distance to travel up into the arm balance. โ„น๏ธ When you begin to lean forward point the toes and lift one foot at a time until you're comfortable enough to lift both. Really point the toes to engage the hamstrings and send the hips up high, lifting through the pelvic floor and lifting the navel in and up to engage the core muscles. Really press the ground away with the hands and round through the upper back, like cat pose. โ„น๏ธ Try to make yourself as small and as tight as possible, like a small ball to lift up to crow. โ„น๏ธ From crow pose, if you're comfortable with chaturanga already, you can shoot the feet back landing in your low push up with the toes tucked and the elbows bent ninety degrees, keeping the shoulder tips higher than the elbows. โ„น๏ธ Move through the vinyasa rolling over the toes to upward facing dog and then lift the hips up and back to downward-facing dog for some well deserved cleansing breaths! Have fun playing with this fun transition and always practice saf
