Su***de is a major public health challenge, with more than 700 000 deaths each year globally. Each su***de has far-reaching social, emotional, and economic consequences, and deeply affects individuals and communities worldwide.

The triennial theme for World Su***de Prevention Day for 2024-2026 is “Changing the Narrative on Su***de” with the call to action “Start the Conversation”. This theme aims to raise awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent su***des. Changing the narrative on su***de is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue and shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support.

The call to action encourages everyone to start the conversation on su***de and su***de prevention. Every conversation, no matter how small, contributes to a supportive and understanding society. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, raise awareness, and create better cultures of support.

This theme also emphasizes the need to prioritize su***de prevention and mental health in policy making, calling for government action. Changing the narrative requires advocating for policies that prioritize mental health, increase access to care, and provide support for those in need.

World Su***de Prevention Day (WSPD) was established in 2003 by the International Association for Su***de Prevention in conjunction with the World Health Organization (WHO). The 10 September each year aims to focus attention on the issue, reduces stigma and raises awareness among organizations, governments, and the public, giving a singular message that su***des are preventable.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said in a statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

I write this as massive music fan. The biggest. Music is an escape. Live music is what a lot of us live for. The euphoria of the lights going down. The planning of the day out, trying to make eye contact with your idols and convincing yourself you have.

Music is a money making industry we aren’t stupid. But do you need to make hundreds of millions?

I asked for two free tickets to raise for underprivileged children in Edinburgh for a large set of gigs being played in Edinburgh coming up. The message was read by a very high up…. And ignored - said person was happy to share a post at the end of a successful day in ripping fans of though showing off their celebrations.

It’s not ok artists, please stop. Music is for the people. You are making it about greedy execs and people with posh parents. Stop dynamic pricing. Please.
