This weekend was all about just getting used to a different kart with no time to get into the kart before this round it was all new for me.
But we pushed on and learned a lot over the weekend. This month is around a year from when we done my first ever race and it has been an absolute blast competing and making friends with a lot of other drivers. I was just happy enough to be part of the ultimate Karting Championship!

Ultimate Karting Championship
Round 5
Clay Pigeon Raceway
One of the furthest away tracks for us with a combined total of 19 hours travelling
Friday practice we were looking good the kart setup and times were good and learning the track all day getting quicker and quicker
Saturday was a totally different day with rain non stop all day π§οΈβ
First practice session we only got to the first turn before we took quite a big knock causing some damage.
The kart felt okay the rest of Saturday for the heats where we did manage to show some pace.
Sunday and it was another dry day and nothing seemed to work. Set up and kart just felt and looked off. And we were miles away from the pace we were setting on Fridays dry practice day so a few head scratching moments were had.
But this is the joys of karting you have your ups and downs and certainly your challenges.
Now we just have to get used to another kart for the final round so it's heads down and get preparing with only a few short weeks untill round 6 at Cumbria Kart Racing Club, Rowrah
Apart from the issues it was a great weekend and we certainly learned a lot once again thanks to LMMotorsport for the support over the weekend
RPM Racing Engines for the engines and getting one of our engines back and ready for us in time
And of course all the ukc staff and Marshalls for making it another great weekend π₯ππ
Standings are looking goodππand we could potentially secure a top 3 at round 5 which would be fantastic!
There could also be a huge surprise announcement coming after round 5 clay pigeon so keep an eye out on our socials on Facebook and instagram

Another great weekend at Ultimate Karting Championship
This time at Three Sisters Circuit
First time at the track so alot of learning to do
Just want to say a massive thanks to LMMotorsport along with Connor Duncan for the data and driver coaching all weekend we gained around 3 seconds all weekend from the Friday and put in some respectable times in the final
Karting woudnt be karting without your ups and downs and we certainly had a few of those π€£
Saturday
Heat 1 axle came loose causing the brake to be on pretty much every corner slowing me down
Heat 2 no issues but struggling to nail the starts is costing me too much time and places.
Heat 3 after heat 2 we were scrutineered while we were putting the jets back in dad made a terrible mistake with not putting it back in correctly not noticing we headed out for heat 3 2nd lap in the engine just woudnt go and sounded awful I stayed out untill I got the black and orange flag and had to come in
With our race engine out of order we had to go onto our practice engine for the Sunday but we knew we just had to ace a few corners and the engine change woudnt matter
Super heat. One of my best drives of the weekend setting my fastest lap time of a 50.299 keeping with a few drivers and having some battles
Final. great drive again but was caught sleeping on the start and lost to much time resulting in being stuck behind another driver and by time I got past I was too far back from the pack and on my own for the remainder of the race.
This was a great weekend and by far my best weekend of driving especially with the good conditions and fast flowing track
BIG WELL DONE TO THE REST OF THE TEAM!
Blair Smith Racing π₯πP1 900mm chassis brilliant racing well done

UKC Round 2 race report
Larkhall Circuit
Heat 1- dsq after coming off on the formation lap dad jumped on to fix my bumper before race starts without asking π
Heat 2 - start p9 finish p11 had a bad start and dropped to the back but making up a few positions throughout the race probably my cleanest heat of the Saturday
Heat 3 - start p2 finish p14 had a good start slowly dropping off as some of the quicker karts made there way through. Doing my best to try to keep on them only to be totally wiped out by another driver who took out 2 of us in 1 corner
Sunday
Super heat.
Start p13 finish p13
π After finding a bent stub axle on Sunday morning from Saturdays last heat we changed them to brand new ones only dad didn't notice the bearings were different in each stub causing one of them to be loose affecting cornering
Super Final
Start p13 finish p13
Apart from a couple small mistakes at the end this was my best drive of the day. Staying with the pack for pretty much the whole race making up a few positions but the little mistakes at the end cost us too much time.
We now sit p3 in the 900 class standings ππ
Time to work on building some more confidence and speed and get ready for round 3 of Ultimate Karting Championship at Karting NE, Warden Law
Thanks again to LMMotorsport and the rest of the team for the help all weekend And Connor for the coaching and data ππ
Also big well done to my team mates Ryan p1 Ollie p2 Blair p10
UKC ROUND 1
Friday practice i had some good seat time but the conditions were a bit wet to say the least. Improving with each session as the day went on.
Saturday practice and heats
Heat1
This is where I started to have some real struggles with the brakes not working as me and dad found out sat on the grid for heat 1 with brakes that were non existent.
Heat 2
We changed a few things before heat 2 trying to solve the issue but unfortunately a leaking master cylinder meant by the time we got to the grid for heat 2 the brakes were back to the same!
Heat 3
After the first 2 heats it was time to change the whole brake system but by this point I had lost alot of confidence in the kart and starting P2 on the grid I was really nervous but got a good start but unfortunately Few laps in and we were punted onto the grass and sent to the back!
Sunday super heat and final
After a really tough Saturday I knew it would be hard coming into the Sunday super heat we started p18 and managed to finish p16 much better driving and alot more confidence in the kart although we were still way off the pace of where we knew i could be
Super final.
P18-p15
Improving in both races on Sunday was all we could try and do and I managed to set my quickest times in the final. With some first lap incidents I had to slow to keep out the danger dropping me back and resulting in spending most of the final driving round on my own.
A Very tough weekend for both me and dad but It was great experience to be part of round 1 of ukc at whilton mill and I will come back stronger for round 2 which is held at our local track Larkhall which i am very much looking forward too!
Now time to get in the seat as much as I can and make sure we have plenty practice before round 2
Big thankyou too LMMotorsport and Adam for the support over the weekend. And ofcourse the whole team for helping each other out and giving some much needed confidence boosts for the kids and ofcourse dad for making all of this possible for me.
πποΈπ¨ not long to go now!
For anyone interested in watching. this will be live streamed this weekend on twitch and alpha live
We hope to see a few of you cheer us on over the weekend
We cannot wait to get going π₯π
9 days to go until round one main event ! π¨
We headed to ESKC at crail for the 3rd and final round of the winter series.
With not being here for quite some time after having a few races south of the border it was time to see how Leland had progressed coming back here
Heat 1 started p6 but after a first lap incident i dropped right to the back but i climbed back to p10 and unfortunately had a 5 sec bumper penalty finishing p14
Heat 2 started p4 but i didn't have the greatest start and lost a few positions kept on going and managed to bring it back p9
Heat 3 started p11 and managed to get up to p9 but caught in traffic and and unfortunate push wide resulted in again another bumper penalty. Finishing p12
Final!
Started p12 but i knew without those penaltys in the heats i could of been starting in the top 10.
I had a good start and managed to keep out of any first lap incidents and pushed on setting our fastest times of the weekend and putting pressure on the kids in front making some good overtakes.
My aim for the weekend was to finish in the top 10 and we managed to finish the final p10!
Great weekend and to only be a few tenths off the quickest times I was more than happy with my progress
Thanks to LMMotorsport for the support over the weekend and pushing me on growing my confidence each session
Happy new year to all my karting freinds that I have met this year.
Thankyou too everyone who has helped out and made my first year racing amazing ποΈπ₯
Cant wait to get started in 2023
Some clips of the weekends racing #29
Our novice journey is complete ππ
And what a weekend it has been at Whilton Mill Kart Club for the last round of there championship and the wm plate meeting.
Our first time here and the track and facilities were amazing.
We had alot of work to do learning the track and finding a set up for the conditions. with only a short practice day on Friday and 2 practice sessions Saturday before our first 2 heats Saturday afternoon.
We had some good sessions and bad sessions while we changed the set up with the changing conditions.
Slight mix up with our grid spots meant we had to start at the very back of every heat so we knew it would be tough to make much progress.
Onto Sunday and dad the mechanic got it totally wrong for the wet and greasy conditions in heat 3. But we turned it around for the final starting p23 we gained a few spots at the start and got some decen laps in keeping up and catching some of the back pack.
Great weekend and leland is glad his novice numbers can now go in the bin! Time for plenty practice and push on for 2023
Big thanks to Kato motorsport. For all the help over the weekend and James Howes for some advice on the Sunday when we were having a tough time.
And so our journey to get out of novice continues with another race weekend. This time we were at Larkhall Circuit for round 4 of the club championship.
Saturday practice - conditions were testing and the weather didn't know what to do with itself so it was a case of just laps laps laps and getting to grips with the track and wet conditions
Sunday race day.
Heat 1 p8 - p6
Heat 2 p8 - p8
Heat 3 p8 - p8
Final p8 - p5
With a mixture of tyres in the final we decided to go with inters although it looked amazing there was still some parts of the track that were damp in shaded areas.
Lelands drive in the final was by far one of his best and a couple good overtakes saw him keeping pace with the front runners untill our tyres started to go off near the end.
One chuffed boy with his drive and a proud dad
Another race day ποΈ ESKC Sprint Kart
With no track time or practice since the askc at larkhall and only being here a couple times it was a tough job coming here as the only novice.
We pushed on setting personal bests in a couple heats and a good battle in the final gave leland some confidence to push on and keep ahead setting his fastest lap around here in the process.
Smiles coming off the track knowing he had done well! Huge steps forward again and another positive day.
Another race weekend complete πποΈ
This time we were at larkhall. Our home track for being the closest so we had high hopes of some good progress and well didn't the wee man just deliver! Personal best times throughout the Saturday and more importantly race day on Sunday.
Heats 1 and 2 we were slightly off pace a little but still managing to keep up with some of the pack and chase improving lines and braking zones
Heat 3 (video attached) lelands best heat of the day and what a drive it was from him setting his fastest ever times around the track and also gaining a good bit of experience being in some close battles with one of his team mates and another driver.
Final!!
Well this just went sideways.. Started good and then the rain started and didn't stop with not much practice in the wet on slicks (in Scotland that's hard to believe but true) we didn't stand much of a chance and we ended the day with a good rally drive on the grass more than track π
Apart from the final being a washout this wee guy should be proud of himself for what he's achieved over the weekend some great experience gained.
Onto the next ποΈ
