On Thursday, we are hosting a concert with music from places of detention.
All the composers and songwriters featured were imprisoned and persecuted because of their identity or beliefs. As well as Yiddish songs from the Shoah, and testimony from the Pinochet dictatorship in Chile, the concert also features music from former Edinburgh University lecturer Hans Gál, a Jewish refugee from the N**i who was interned as an enemy alien in Britain in the 1940s.
