Our client gave us the brief to create a flow through three separate rooms that had been joined together to create one loft-like space. At one end she wanted to create an elegant, yet not too formal lounge area with a seating configuration that would encourage relaxed conversation. At the other end, she wanted a relaxed space where she could watch TV with her children. The question was, how to create that sense of continuity. - We used a neutral and clean palette throughout to create a calm and modern feel. - We brought together harmonious geometric patterns that added interest to the neutral palette. The angular patterns of the rugs work beautifully with the circular weave of the soft voiles. On the rug, the angular glass coffee table with its black frame reflects the shapes in the rug design. - We used luxurious textures (bouclés, metallic weaves, animal prints in neutral colours) in the formal space - We linked the two spaces using the same rug in each area and sofas in similar hues, but different styles.
