Meet the incredible people behind All The Mountains Give, which has had its World Premiere here at EIFF. Through their eyes, we explored the Kolbari trade between Iraq and Iran – a perilous livelihood where the palpable sense of risk and danger is contrasted with the gentle rhythms of family life under harsh conditions.
This evening is the World Premiere of Gala & Kiwi, presented by producer, screenwriter and former EIFF Director, Lynda Myles. @galaykiwi is an emotional drama about two women who uncover surprising details about their past during a wild drunken night. With dynamic camerawork, riveting performances and an expert sense of atmosphere and pace, the film creates a world familiar to anyone who has ever experienced a complicated friendship. See the World Premiere TONIGHT at 18:45 at @thecameocinema
✅ Road trip ✅ Dysfunctional comedy ✅ Fun What more do you need? @filmcalledsunlight premieres TONIGHT at EIFF, and has screenings through Tuesday 20 August. Get down to (monkey) business with Nina Conti and Shenoah Allen with this fantastically absurd film.
“The DNA of Sunray is my DNA, and it’s the DNA of my friends and colleagues.” - @tipcullen Tonight. Midnight. Sunray: Fallen Soldier makes its World Premiere right here in Edinburgh. Created by and starring former Royal Marines Commandos, we follow a war veteran seeking justice in a violent criminal underworld. With realistic, kinetic action and a hard-hitting exploration of PTSD, this is a real powerhouse film. Thank you to the cast & crew of @sunray.film for digging deeper into the making of such a special film.
#EIFF 2024 is here! The UK Premieres of The Outrun and Alien: Romulus took over Cameo Cinema well into the night. Digging Deeper: Xibalba Monster Xibalba Monster paints a portrait of characters within the context of the stories and mythologies of remote villages in Mexico, keepers of a mystery that awakens the imagination. Here, we meet (and share a laugh with) the cast and crew who bring this story to life.
Meet Mimi 👋 Mimi is the co-star of Bryan Carberry’s (@carbsofficial) documentary, *smiles and kisses you* which makes its World Premiere in less than a week. The film explores the relationship between the wonderful human Chris and Mimi, the life-size AI doll he lives with, who is animated through an app. The real focus of this beautiful film is his honest reflection and the complex personal history that has led him to develop this confined yet very real relationship with the doll. The Body Remembers. Reclaims. Reframes. Full body artist Gregory Maqoma reimagines the story of a 19th-century Black South African choir on tour through Victorian England. Teaming up with composer Thuthuka Sibisi, and as they travel across continents, Maqoma feels the lines disappearing between his own story and the choir’s.
