Here we go 2024!
Managed to take a few leaps through the boggy allotment today to start some tidying and planting. Gardening 👨🏽🌾 👩🏽🌾
Managed to clear last year’s bed of sweetcorn which we kept for winter interest, plus a little place for insects 🐞 to hide through the harsh season change.
Planted a whole bed of garlic 🧄 approximately 120 in the ground so hoping for a good crop this season. Definitely keeping the vampires away!
A little late but hey ho!
Happy planning fellow green fingered folk!!
Phase 2: IBC tank 🎨 painted black to stop 💧 water going green 🌧️ corrugated roof on to collect all that wonderful rainwater 🌎 next connect up the soaker hoses.
Beans 🫘 are still going! Letting them go to seed 🌱 now.
From plant 🪴 to plate 🍽️ in 60 minutes 😋 😋 😋 the birds even enjoyed 2 of them 💜
Phase 1: water 💦 tank support placements setup, next paint tank black and source a tin sheet to collect rain water with.
missing in action, they just didn’t make it home 😋
Letting the radish go to seed.
In with the new leeks
Raspberries galore this year and the cooking apples 🍏 are coming along nicely, the pruning has killed the tree 😮💨
Garlic 🧄 is up, not the best but it will still taste 😋 great 👍🏽
Mini haul, all I can say not all of them made it home! 😋
Sweet Rewards 😋
And just like that the patio 🏆 is done ✅
Before and after an hours satisfying strimming and lawn mowering - finally looking a bit tidier.
After the rain ☔️ sunshine ☀️ & running out of supplies I’m glad to see out little allotment patio in place. 🪴
No more sitting on grow bags, dirt and planks of wood 🪵 as we’ve even managed to buy a recycled patio table. Bring on the jam sandwiches & flask of tea!
Never mind Instagram need SmellaGram 👃 for this post, well rotted 🐴 manure! How does your garden grow? 🐛
Sweetcorn 🌽 and Peas 🫛 planted. Wish us luck 🍀
Just met most amazingest artist at go see and meet them this weekend.
New gate and a couple of raised beds from the scrap wood around the plot. 😃
Phase II of preparing next years beds in progress, all made up, ready to be dug in and then the filling can commence…
A few beautiful butternut squashes harvested this morning and a few to go! 🙏
Butternut Squashes have taken over the bed, but I really don’t mind. Monty cut them back, I say let them grow. 🌹
Beef Tomatoes 🍅 coming along nicely 😃
Allotment Shed gets a much needed makeover 🎨
Apples 🍎🍏
So we have a new gadget for apple picking, was a little sceptical as Mr D loves anything gadgety.
Proud to say this works a treat! Lots of apples to harvest & share in the community.
What’s everyone doing with there glut of apples?
Does anyone thing corn 🌽 is ready for picking?
