Mental Health Matters: A Daily Reminder

While I often avoid over-the-top awareness days, mental health is an exception. Every day should be a reminder to prioritise our well-being.

As a business owner and public figure, I've experienced my fair share of ups and downs. This week, a bout of illness has taken a toll on my mental health. It's a stark reminder that even self-employed individuals need time to rest and recharge.

Today, I took a break to enjoy the fresh air, soak up some vitamin D, and disconnect from technology. It's amazing how simple acts of self-care can make a difference.

In this digital world I work in, it may surprise some that I still use the good old fashioned pen to paper to help me plan my work load, with to do lists...

I do use digital tools to schedule work, it's very convenient, however there's something undeniably satisfying and effective about a handwritten to-do list.

Imo here's why:

📝Improved Focus, next to me whilst I work!

📝Enhancing my creativity, sometimes new ideas!

📝Brings sense of achievement (putting line through it)

📝A paper list doesn't distract me (unlike using devices do)

Is it just me? My office is full of quotes that really resonate with what I do as a social media manager, marketing and trainer.

This one really is true when it comes to using social media and building your businesses reputation online. When it comes to helping businesses grow their online presence it is key to find a flow with content posting and the content creation.

This is so true, whatever your results, do not give up on your dreams, and do you know what, if you don't know what you want to do yet, that's ok too!

I left school at 14. No GCSEs. Started washing cars, selling my teddies, doing dance classes 😂🙈 basically I was hustling from. Young age. After many years working from local shops, MacDonald's to Selling shares for railtrack... I've worked in lots of industries, hairdressing, selling fruit n veg, call centres, childcare, care homes! It all helped paid my way and helped me learn more about what I really wanted to do.

Now nearing cough cough years old I have achieved 2 diplomas in Graphic design and gained 1 GCSE. I run a digital advertising business and marketing agency. Yes again I've had businesses flip and flop. But never given up. Just keep on swimming.

I left school with zero GCSEs, I was lucky to be accepted into a graphic design and visual comms course when I was 21. That paved the way for my now career, business in marketing, social media etc.

I did go back to evening classes when I was 40 and gained my first GCSE in English Language, i did it for me, for no one else. I am self employed and didn't need it, but as a content creator it has helped having English Language education.

There are no hard and fast rules in life, when I started college I was set on becoming a photographer, but then the journey took me to other areas I liked! So don't be dishearted, be flexible, be you.

26 years doing it.

Running a business is definitely not easy, no one should ever under estimate the dedication and hard work it takes, and sometimes failures. But do you know what, failure is only feedback...

If you have passion, drive and love what you do, you can and will make it work! Sometimes it's not what you started with, sometimes it's completely different🤣 and sometimes it's just perfect!

My entrepreneurial career has taken ups and downs. Highs and lows, health, life blows, economy, market challenges, but do you know what... I'm still here, 26 years later. I've lost, gained, learnt but most of all I know what I love to do most. And I'm doing it.

I started with a shop on Port Street Evesham called KT Design & Print. I sold, opened, changed, returned to employment and then did it again. Never be embarrassed of failure in business, never be ashamed. If you have never failed how do you know you got it right!?
