Hi All.
Thank you for your messages and enquiries.
In answer to your questions...
Yes. Of course. I am going to continue to both train and to teach. I will also be available to teach seminars.
All that is changing is my location / The place that I will be living.
However, because of our house 'purchase' falling through (not our house sale), I am likely to be a little transient for some time. This is impacting my ability to commit to anything, right at the moment.
Please continue to ask and or watch this space.
I will resume some sort of normal, as soon as is possible. 🙏🏻🙇🏼♀️
As well as training Karate, I watch a lot of Karate.
For me, and it is personal and not by any means a criticism of how anyone else might deliver their own Karate...
The absence of back leg drive changes our performance enormously. I think it creates inefficiencies and works opposite to natural body mechanic. Disarming our ability to be explosive.
I think too, it can make for noisy Karate.
Without back leg drive. We may choose instead to rely on a little force, with momentum up to a point, before gravity interupts our level of control. Poor posture, lack of core control and other factors will also impact / affect performance.
When I execute a movement forward action, I want only forward. No up or down. No dragging of my back leg. Just an explosive forward action. A to B, as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
In projectile motion, the momentum changes vertically because of the force of gravity downwards. However, momentum does not change horizontally, because there are no horizontal forces.
Going only forward. Pushing / Driving forward therefore, is the most efficient way to travel.
How many of us interupt the practice of our Karate long enough, to allow mindfulness in our practice?
I think there is a place for thoughtful training.
Hard, fast, mindless? Yes of course there is a place for that. But to step outside of that is an essential part of out growth. An essential part of allowing great and intelligent practice.
It's not all kicking and punching. Fun times outside of the Dojo too.
My work here is done.
I have loved this space, beyond measure.
May all of the seeds I have planted flourish.
Paul Goodes Thank you for many things.
I have spent your genoristy well, with the philosophy of 'paying it forward'.
It has been a gift to have been able to give of myself so freely.
A childhood dream come true. One I hope to reawaken, at my next stop.
Another loop closed.
I would just like to send further thanks for the support and encouragement I have received this week, from friends and followers.
In addition the many messages, texts and heart felt thoughts I have received, there have been a few surprises too. Phone calls and emails from complete strangers (in the Karate field).
I am certainly feeling the love and even hearing the compliments (which I often find hard to absorb).
Thank you all, for many things.
Keep watching. The journey is certainly NOT over 🙏🏻🙇🏼♀️

Tonight after the training and all of the hugging, followed celebrations.
Tonight after training.... There was much hugging 🫂
Tonight as we embark on our final class together... the dry wipe boards says -
HAJIME, Always begining for in Karate there is no end.
Osu -
Chrissie Sensei
Starting to sense some end of term exhaustion.
Lots of effort though, good focus, evidence of lots of learning and some laughter. We wouldn't have a class without it!
In the adults class tonight, there was not a great deal of focus on neat and tidy Karate. Instead, mostly thoughts about flow, continuity, a little rythm and some skipping across the floor.
Basically, in class tonight we smashed stuff up, with kindness of course!
Matilda is the smallest in the group and remains the most dangerous.
Great session on the pads, following some gruelling stance training, where thighs burned and shook until we all fell over.
Whilst furiously pounding the pads, the level of joy was at the greatest of levels 😊👏🏻
Kumite coming along nicely.
Gabriella proving to be impressive in class tonight, as she very often is.
Here she can be seen, working on her hikite (pulling) hand.
So strong, for her young age.
Working on some Kumite drills tonight.
Happy Birthday Connie 🎂
Happy Birthday Harrison 🎈
Kai nailing his crossovers tonight, in our gruelling warm-up / circuits, which was followed by some equally gruelling Kumite.
Lovely effort from everyone though, with great engagement.

Please see WhatsApp group for training days and times, for the remainder of the month.
THERE ARE SOME CHANGES.
Osu 🙇🏼♀️
Happy Birthday Jack!
Notice of change.
Chrissie Sensei, will be leaving us soon to relocate to the North East. Provisions and guidance has been offered re finding your new training venue / group. If you still require support with this, please do come forward and ask.
The last training session will be on:
Wednesday 26th July.
I am sure you will all like to join us in both celebrating and thanking Chrissie Sensei for supporting our Karate journey thus far.
Our loss, is Northumberlands gain.
Many Osu's.
The journey... it continues...
The FB page will remain in place for now and updates given at a later date, as to where Chrissie Sensei ends up, should anyone wish to join her at her new location, if that location happens to be near you?
Good luck Chrissie Sensei. We are grateful and so very lucky to have shared the path with you, thus far.
Because of this announcement, we are no longer acepting new membership enquiries.
Tonight we had.... A very sweaty kumite class 🥵
Bring water!!!! 💧
Please be reminded that there is no training on Bank Holiday Monday (29th May 2023).
Spotlighting Dariya tonight. Our most recent member. Just 13 years old and already showing great potential.

We have been playing hard with Kata recently. Tonight we explored the magic inside... Bunkai! My most favourite thing.
Happy Birthday Tim 🎈
That's a wrap!
First class done... Next!
No training on Bank Hokiday Monday / 08th May 2023
A really lovely couple of classes last night, which were both heavily attended - everyone seems to be back in to the swing of their training, which is always great to see.
The kids worked super hard, with much enthusiasm - which they always do to be fair. They are screaming at me for a grading, so I am screaming at them to learn their drills. It is a beautifully combative conversation which we often have ❤️
With the seniors, we have been revisiting the Heian series of Kata, in depth. Looking deeper in to the complexities of working our bodies in the most efficient ways, while delivering the correct form - that which works for the individual and that which works best for the Karate.
Last night we spent much time on the transition from Kiba Dachi to Zenkutsu Dachi, while we were working through Heian Sandan.
We ended the class on some lovely bits of bunkai.
Thank you Tim for being my tireless uke.
Even when you are telling the rest of the class, "you have seen it enough times now" 🤣
I forgot to do photo's and videos last night - but I am often most joyed in those moments, knowing that the magic was captured between only us and the room and sometimes that feels more special for the class. Something meant only for them.
Full house in the kids class tonight, with bundles of energy and enthusiasm.
Some beautiful ability and demonstration to push through, even when they are feeling a little overwhelmed. So proud of your ability to do that tonight and now you have breached the barrier, you will be able to do it again
Then, in the adults class, pictured here - we worked only on Kata tonight, with focus being applied to foundation and effective and efficient movement. That which improves your physical ability. Not that which harms you.
As with the childrens class, there was the most beautiful energy flowing tonight 🙇🏼♀️
I have more photo's and videos to post, apologies for not doing much of that recently. Busy, busy, busy.
Welcome Ky amd Daria to the Dojo
And so begins another week...
Welcome Daria to the Dojo 🙇🏼♀️
Nice little 1-2-1with one of our newest members.
Tonight we worked on building coordination, balance, inner thigh strength, awareness, strengthening the body and the development of confidence and much, much more.
Well done Harrison for working so very hard!
Thank you Tim for teaching the adult class tonight, at short notice - after my calf muscle exploded on Monday.
Osu 🙇🏼♀️
