Sunday 15th September.
This week, our Bible story was about 'Jesus and Zaccheus'. One day, Jesus was passing through the town of Jericho. A rich and dishonest tax collector, called Zaccheus, wanted to see Jesus.
However, Zaccheus was a small man and he could not see above the crowd. So he climbed up into a sycamore tree so that he could get a better view! As Jesus approached the tree, He stopped, looked up into the tree, and said, “Zaccheus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today!” Jesus and Zaccheus became friends and Zaccheus’ life changed completely!
We made this picture of Zaccheus sitting in the tree. The children drew around their hand and arm for the outline of the branches and tree trunk!
September Messy Church will be happening on Thursday 26th September 2024, from 4.00pm to 5.30pm!
Children aged 11 years and under are welcome to come along for fun, crafts and a buffet tea, along with a Bible story and other activities. All children must be accompanied by a parent/carer please!
You can let us know that you are intending to come, by emailing [email protected], or by speaking to Mandy. However, it is also fine if you just turn up on the day.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Sunday 8th September 2024.
Our Bible story was about 'Jesus and the Nobleman's Son'. We learnt that when his son was very ill, a Nobleman travelled from Capernaum to Cana to ask Jesus for help. The Nobleman found Jesus and asked Him to come back to Capernaum to heal his son.
Jesus looked kindly at him and said, “Go back home, your son is well again. I don’t need to come to your house. Just believe what I say.” (It was one o'clock when Jesus said that.)
The Nobleman hurried back to Capernaum, and on the way, his servants came and met him. They told him, “Your son is well!” The man asked, “What time did my son begin to get well?” The servants answered, “It was about one o’clock!” The Nobleman knew that one o’clock was the exact time that Jesus had said, ‘Your son is well again’. And the Nobleman, and everyone in his house, believed in Jesus!
We made this model of the Nobleman's house, complete with the son (firstly in bed, and then standing up!) and a LED tealight lamp!
Just to let you all know that we have had to reschedule this month's Messy Church. Unfortunately, Mandy has tested positive for Covid and is suffering the usual symptoms of a head cold etc.
However, we have been able to find a new date for this month, and therefore the next Messy Church will be on Thursday 26th September 2024, at the usual time of 4.00pm to 5.30pm.
We will send out new Messy Church reminders on Facebook nearer the time.
Our apologies to anyone who will be inconvenienced by this change of date.
Sunday 1st September 2024.
This week, our Bible story was called 'Jesus and the Storm on the Lake'. We found out that one day, when Jesus and the disciples were crossing the Sea of Galilee in a boat, a huge storm blew up that threatened to sink the boat. Jesus was asleep in the back of the boat and the scared disciples woke up him saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”. Jesus stood up and said, “Peace! Be still!” Immediately, the wind stopped, and the lake became calm. The disciples were amazed. They said, “What kind of man is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
We made these 'Storm on the Lake' themed snowglobes, with a stormy picture on one side and a calm picture on the other!
Sunday 25th August 2024.
This week, we learnt about the 'The Parable of the Good Samaritan'. This Parable (or story!) that Jesus told was about a man who had been robbed. Three people walked past the poor man as lay on the ground, but only the stranger from the foreign country of Samaria stopped to help the man! The Good Samaritan took the injured man to an inn where he could stay and recover. The Good Samaritan paid the innkeeper well, out of his own money, so that the man would be well-looked after. Jesus told this Parable to help us understand that we should be kind to everyone, even those who are not our friends!
We iced and decorated house biscuits (for the inn!) and heart biscuits (for kindness!).
Sunday 18th August 2024.
This week, we learnt about 'The Parable of the Lost Sheep'. Parables were stories that Jesus told to help people understand more about God and how much He cares for us. Jesus once told a story about a shepherd who had 100 sheep. In the story, one of the sheep wandered off and became lost. The shepherd searched everywhere for the lost sheep until he found it! In the story, God is like the shepherd, and we are like the sheep - He cares for us just like the shepherd cared for his sheep!
For our craft activity, we made this cute fluffy model of 'The Lost Sheep'!
Sunday 11th August 2024.
This week, our Bible story was about 'Jesus and the Wedding at Cana'. We found that, one day, Jesus went to a wedding with some of His disciples, and with His mother, Mary. Halfway through the wedding, the wine ran out! Mary asked Jesus if he could help - and that is when Jesus did His first miracle! He turned 6 large jars of water into wine, and it was the best wine that anyone had tasted that day!
Here is a short video of the 'Water into Wine' pots that we made! (sound on!)
Sunday 4th August 2024.
This week, our Bible story was about 'Jesus and the five loaves and two fish'. In the story, a young boy gave his lunch to Jesus. There were only five small loaves of bread, and two small fish, in the boy’s lunch, but Jesus fed over 5000 people with it. There were even 12 basketfuls left over at the end. It was a miracle!
We made our own versions of the boy's lunch basket , with two chocolate 'fish' and five marshmallow 'loaves'! Our Bible verse of the day was 'Jesus said, "I am the Bread of Life"', from John 6 v 35.
Sunday 28th July 2024.
Our Bible story this week was called, 'Jesus and the Man who couldn’t see'. We heard how one day, when Jesus was walking with his disciples, he saw a man who had been blind since birth. Jesus wanted His disciples to understand that His Father, God, had sent Him to do God's work, and so He said to them, “I am the Light of the World!”. Then Jesus went up to the man and put mud on the man’s eyes and told him to wash the mud off in the Pool of Siloam. The man went to the pool and washed the mud from his eyes. When he opened them, he could see light, and everything around him, for the very first time in his life! It was a miracle!
For our craft activity, we decorated these cool glasses, complete with coloured lenses, and modelled here by Mandy! 👓🕶
Sunday 21st July 2024.
This week, in our third story about Noah, we learnt about 'Noah and the Rainbow'.
After the flood waters went down, Noah let all of the animals out of the ark, and Noah and his family thanked God for caring for them all. God promised never to flood the whole earth again, and then He put a put a rainbow in the sky! God said to Noah, “Whenever I cover the sky with clouds and the rainbow appears, I will remember My promise to you!”
We decorated these rainbows with sparkly sticky hearts. They have a magnet on the back so they can be put on a fridge door. Our rainbows remind us that God keeps His promises!
Summer Messy Church.
Thursday 18th July 2024.
Thank you to everyone that came to Summer Messy Church this week! Our crafts, activities, and Bible story were about 'The Parable of the House on the Rock'.
Jesus told a parable (or a story!) about two men who each built a house. The wise man built his house on the rock, but the foolish man built his house on the sand. In His story, Jesus told how a storm came with rain, winds and floods. The house that the foolish man had built on the sand was washed away, but the wise man’s house on the rock stood firm, because it had a strong foundation.
Jesus said, “I am like the wise man’s rock. If you trust in Me, I will never let you down.”
Here are some of 'The Parable of the House on the Rock' crafts and activities that we did!

Sunday 14th July 2024.
This week, in our second story about Noah, we learnt about 'Noah and the Flood'. We found out that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights and the flood waters rose above the highest mountain tops, but Noah, his family, and all the animals were kept safe in the ark. And through it all Noah continued to trust God because he knew that God was caring for them all.
We made this 'rocking' Noah's Ark, complete with googly-eyed animals! (sound on!)

Sunday 7th July 2024.
This week, we started a three week series of Bible stories about Noah. Our first story was about 'Noah and the Ark'. God had told Noah that there was to be a huge flood and that he had to build an ark to keep him and his family, and a pair of every kind of animal, safe. God gave Noah clear instructions on how to build the Ark, and because Noah had always trusted God, he worked hard to build the ark exactly as God had told him to. When the ark was completed, Noah, his family, and the animals, went inside, and the door of the ark was firmly shut. And then it started to rain very hard and it didn't stop raining - but everyone in the ark was kept safe. Noah continued to trust God and he knew that God was caring for them all!
For our craft activity, we made these 'Noah and the Ark' sticker scenes!
Sunday 23rd June 2024.
This week, our Bible story was about 'Elisha and the Room on the Roof'. We heard how a woman from the town of Shunem often gave a meal to the prophet Elisha when he was visiting her town. One day the woman and her husband talked about Elisha’s visits. She said, ‘I think we should have a place for Elisha to stay’.
So they kindly decided to add a room to their house. This room was a place on the rooftop, with a bed, a table, a chair and a lamp. When he next visited, Elisha was surprised and thankful to have a place to rest!
Here is a very short video of the sliding story scene that we made! (Sound on!)
June Messy Church.
Thursday 20th June 2024.
Thank you to everyone that came to June Messy Church this week! Our crafts, activities, and Bible story were about 'Jesus and the Centurion’s Servant'.
One day, when Jesus was in the town of Capernaum, a Roman Centurion came to Him. The Centurion’s servant was ill, and the Centurion had come to Jesus for help. Jesus said to the Centurion, “I will come and heal him.” But the Centurion said, “Lord, just say the words right now, and I know that my servant will be healed!” Jesus was surprised by the great faith that the Centurion had, and He said, “Go home, your servant will be healed just as you believe he will!” And exactly at that moment, the servant was healed!
Here are some of the 'Jesus and the Centurion’s Servant' crafts and activities that we did!

Sunday 16th June 2024.
This week, we heard about 'The Story of Elisha and the Jars of Oil'. There was a woman who owed a lot of money. The woman had two sons and the family was very poor and had nothing in their house except one small jar of oil. She went to Elisha (who was a prophet and man of God) and pleaded with him to help her. Elisha told the woman, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can. Fill them with oil from your jar.” Because the woman trusted in God, she did what Elisha had told her. She filled one jar full.... and then she filled the next jar too! The oil in her jar just kept pouring out, until every single jar was full! The oil didn’t run out! It was a miracle! The woman sold the cooking oil at the market and paid back all the money that she owed.
For our craft activity, we made jars, jugs and pots from clay or playdough. Here are the ones that Mandy made!
Primary Sunday School Treasure Hunt 2024.
At the Primary Sunday School Summer Outing last week, we had a 'Daniel in the Lion's Den' themed Treasure Hunt, where we had to find all the lions that were hidden around the field.
Here is the display that we have made using the pictures from the treasure hunt!
