3 things that have accelerated my self-development and healing journey...

💖 Yoga
💖 Sobriety
💖 Therapy

🕉️ Y O G A
I don't just mean cool shapes, we're talking about a holistic yoga practice including things like; asana, breathwork, subtle energy work, meditation, mantra, mudra, lifestyle improvements, spiritual philosophy, reading the sacred scriptures, and devotion to the Divine (bhakti yoga).

🕉️ S O B R I E T Y
I committed to sobriety just over 3 years ago, and haven't looked back.

Deciding to stop self-destructing has been one of the most powerful accelerants for my spiritual awakening and healing journey.

🚫 No alcohol
🚫 No smoking
🚫 No recreational drugs

You'd be surprised at how many people self-medicate to 'cope' with life.

And if that's you, I promise you—there are MUCH BETTER and more effective ways to self-medicate without abusing and neglecting yourself...

Yoga is one of them!

You cannot heal if you're continually self-harming... Ahimsa is a key yogic (and spiritual) philosophy.

By participating in the world with an unadulterated and unfiltered lens of what's going on around (and within) me.

Dedicating myself to ahimsa, and refusing to engage in self-destructive and self-sabotaging behaviours...

I've been able to accelerate my self-development 🚀

It's helped me get organised and focused in my mind and life, because I'm not having to spend energy recovering from unhealthy habits, or wasting time on things that don't really serve my highest self.

🕉️ T H E R A P Y
Yoga and sobriety are great, but they can't replace professional therapy by a certified mental health specialist.

For me, yoga, sobriety and therapy have been a holy trinity 🫶🏽

Taking the time to pour love, compassion, empathy, kindness, and understanding into my wounds with an experienced guide...

And choosing to lean in, with the support of someone who knows how to unpack and dismantle trauma and unhelpful thought habits has helped to heal wounds that I've been trying to self-manage for decades.

What else would you add to this list?

What's accelerated your growth?

📢 In August we'll be kicking off the launch of The Sanctuary newsletter with the topic of social media detoxing...

✅ We cover why it's important if you're interested in holistic health, wellness, and your creativity

✅ And how to set boundaries for an effective detox in a world that is obsessed with social media (even if you're an ambitious girlie with a busy career/business)

Choosing to consciously build effective boundaries and tapping out of the noise and chaos on social media platforms can help to benefit your:

💖 Mind [mental health]
💖 Peace
💖 Self-concept
💖 Business/career
💖 Artistic creations + hobbies

You can't be a creator, or in your artistic zone, if you're just consistently consuming.

You need space and silence for the artist within to blossom and bloom.

If you're constantly consuming and filling every piece of Divine silence with other people's content, you're leaving little room for your authenticity and creativity to arise.

In The Sanctuary monthly newsletter, we talk about yoga, ta**ra, women’s wellness, holistic s*x education, nourishing your relationships, self-development and slow living.

🕉️ If you're ready to get holistic wellness inspiration straight to your inbox so you can avoid doom scrolling on the gram, sign up now.

Do you get caught up in your to-do list, and all the things you still want to achieve?
..to the point where you forget to appreciate just how much you've achieved and how many challenges you've overcome?

If so, this is your reminder to take some time today to think about all those wins, all those challenges you've solved, and just how much you've survived and conquered.

Don't just focus on the future, and all the amazing things that you still want to accomplish or experience.

Life is short, but you've got time...

Make sure you make space in the present moment for self-appreciation and feeling proud of yourself too.

Yes, you may have things that you still want to improve and work on, but equally, you're amazing and perfect as you are 🫶🏽

Life is full of these wonderful polarities, it's about trying to find some balance and peace in the present moment amidst it all.

Ahiṃsā is the principle of respect and non-violence towards all living beings and things. The concept of ahimsa is commonly seen throughout yogic, Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain philosophy.

It forms part of the ‘yamas’ and ‘niyamas’ which are yogic moral codes and ethics to live by, also known as yōgadharma.

Ahimsa is known as the first yama.

The concepts of ahimsa and the five yamas are mentioned in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Chapter 2, Verse 30.

And in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Chapter 1, Verse 17, ahimsa is also mentioned as part of the ten yamas.

The principle of ahimsa can be translated and applied in multiple different ways, from refraining from harming other beings to refraining from self-harm.

One of the most rewarding things about teaching yoga is being able to watch the transformation of my students—and the different ways in which they benefit from stepping onto their mats.

🕉️ Yoga is an empowering practice... And there are many ways in which it can support your holistic health and wellness.

If you're ready to start yoga as a beginner, or want to commit to your practice with a little more discipline and consistency, come along and practice with me every week online.

See you on the mat 🫶🏽

Are you ready to commit to your health and wellness journey?

If you're serious about wanting to improve your health, fitness, and happiness — I'd highly recommend my weekly online yoga classes.

Try different yoga styles for a nice balance of practices, get accountability to keep you on track, and meet like-minded women who are on similar journeys.

Suitable for beginners to experienced practitioners, my classes are trauma-informed and accessible for 'all bodies'.

You can find more information about classes on my website. If you've got any questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

The studies on yoga and meditation are growing by the year, as we continue to explore the holistic benefits of this ancient practice through the lens of Western medicine.

It's fascinating to learn about the wide array of benefits that yoga and meditation can bring through modern approaches to measuring health and wellness.

Researchers are finding emotional and mental health benefits, all the way to tangible physical benefits that help to improve holistic health and well-being.

I feel like social media gets a lot of stick, and I get it there is a lot of nonsense on here...

🌟 But equally, some really inspiring movements have initially developed from social media, that are now considered more 'mainstream'.

For example, the body-positive yoga community on Instagram and Facebook are thriving, and it helps to shift the narrative away from yoga being for certain types of people, with certain types of bodies (mainly young white women with slender figures).

Yoga is becoming more and more accessible due to content creators starting these conversations on social media — which makes me happy.

What do you appreciate about social media?

Are there any 'niche' communities that you really appreciate being connected with on here?

I can think of a few...

I know I'm not the only one who gets overwhelmed with how 'busy' life can be.

Sometimes, I have to reel myself back in, and remember that it's OK to check out and choose me — without guilt or shame.

This is your reminder, to tune out the noise of life when you need to, because your responsibilities and to-do list will still be patiently waiting for you to get back 'online' tomorrow.

Drop a ❤️ if you're also putting up your 'do not disturb' sign today.
