EDIT; 1000 signs ups since posting last night!! Wow!
I’ve had a few requests for the energy resources mentioned in the MH talk. These are all available on the energy accounting course on my website (this hadn’t been fully developed when I originally recorded the Mh talk) if you are able to access them via purchasing the energy course I would be very grateful. The resources themselves were done by a graphic designer & hosting all my courses on the platform costs an awful lot. (If you aren’t in a financial position to purchase the course please let me know)

Crafters.
Goes on blue- dries clear.

Today I learnt about Blu Stick.

My brain process whilst sat in a Learning Centre at a primary school…

“Ewww, why is the glue blue!?”

A moment later

“Ohhhhhhh!”

Why do I think this is worth sharing?

Because the glue goes on blue and then dries clear.

For the kids with difficulty with visual perception, it’s obvious where they have glued.

For the kids with sensory over reactivity to touch (and me), you can see where not to touch.

For the kids with challenges with motor control, it’s very obvious where they’ve managed to glue and where may need a little more.

Overall, I call that a win, and I’ve now gone to Amazon and bought some for us to use at work!!

Has anyone found any other cool little tips like this?

to Act
It’s time to Act on the Mental Health Bill

Why are we campaigning?
Did you know that according to the Mental Health Act, autism and learning disabilities are considered mental disorders?

This means you can be sectioned just for being autistic or having a learning disability.
This is a huge human rights scandal, especially considering the abuse and restrictive practices that too many go on to face in inpatient settings.
Last year the Government published its draft Mental Health Bill proposing to change this. The Bill was a huge step forward in the campaign to stop the scandal of autistic people being wrongly detained and stuck in mental health hospitals. But progress has stalled, and we are running out of time to turn the Bill into law before the next general election.

The bill proposed vital changes to the Mental Health Act, including:
• changing the definition of “mental disorder” in the Mental Health Act
meaning autistic people and people with a learning disability who do not
have an accompanying mental health condition can’t be detained under
section 3
• introducing a duty for councils to provide enough of the right community
services to prevent autistic people and people with a learning disability from
reaching crisis point
• making Care and Treatment Review actions enforceable, helping autistic
people and people with a learning disability get discharged from hospitals
sooner.
We must tell the Government that it is Time to Act.

Did you know that autism is still defined as a ‘mental disorder’ under the
? This means autistic people can be detained in mental
health hospitals just because they’re autistic. It’s . Sign the open
letter:
