Brooklyn Junior Football Club 2 - 4 U13 EAGLES Our u13s Eagles played their last game of the season today. Another derby game v local challengers Brooklyn. After a tough 7-1 defeat last week against a very strong Rufforth team, we really wanted to end the season on a high. Nerves and panic took over in the usual manner for us, we had little confidence and it wasn't our best first half. Brooklyn found the back of the net and took the lead, 1-0 at HT. Second half kicked off and in what seemed only a matter of seconds, Brooklyn scored again, now leading 2-0. Instead of our heads dropping, the desire to make a comeback was evident. We displayed some great play, and we wanted it more in this moment. The ball went out for an Old Malton corner, beautifully taken by Lewis, landed at the feet of Adam Brownbridge ⚽ for him to tuck it in the net. 2-1. We continued great play and confidence levels increased by the minute. Arthur Camacho spotted an opportunity and ran the whole 2nd half of the pitch with the ball, no one could catch him, for which he was rewarded with an absolutely cracking top bins screamer ⚽ equalising 2-2! Following that - after a foul on our man, Captain Arthur Camacho stepped up to take the free kick from 25yds. As per the video, what a strike!! ⚽ Old Malton now taking the lead 2-3 Our desire to win was strong. Henry Hall scored ⚽ a 4th and final goal to seal the deal. The grit, determination and effort shown was outstanding throughout the second half, and we welcomed a final 3 points on the table. - - - - - - - - - - - A HUGE thank you and well done to all our team members and parents for their commitment this season. We have turned up to every single game this year short of players, but have always given it our best shot. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ We look forward to welcoming some new players and after a break, coming back stronger for next season.

✨ Old Malton u13 Eagles ✨ Today we travelled over to Poppleton Junior Football Club to play them in a semi final in the York cup. To say we were reluctant would be an understatement, having faced them recently in 2 league games, and were HEAVILY defeated both times. We didn't ever expect to win, but we wanted to compete and give them a good game - which we know we are more than capable of. All us coaches asked today - was for the boys to give it their all. Desire and heart was everything no matter what the score. And wow did they deliver that πŸ’™ From kick off, we were strong. We held our own and it was pound for pound every minute. We were brave, confident, composed and didn't panic under the pressure. The whole team performance was absolutely outstanding. We got to half time with no score! 0-0. With no subs made, every single player had run their socks off with no respite for a solid 35 minutes. A constant battle which no denying was very hard work. It was still all to play for and anybody's game. Early into the second half, the ref blew for a foul on our man inside the box and awarded a penalty. Beautifully taken by Olly Cooper ⚽, we were 1-0 up!! Poppleton came back quickly with a great goal to equalise 1-1. We continued to work hard but conceded another cracking goal to go 2-1 down. Heads never dropped once, the desire and heart was the strongest we have ever known, incredible to see - coaches and parents watched on with huge pride. Poppleton scored a 3rd and final goal, ending the game 3-1. Well done Poppleton, we wish you the best of luck for the cup final. Thank you for hosting us and for giving us our best game of the season so far πŸ₯…πŸ†βš½

Today the U13s Eagles travelled to play Pocklington Town Football Club . Lucky to have a game today considering the awful weather we've had locally and many waterlogged pitches. However it has to be noted that Pocklington's pitches not only looked fantastic, but were in brilliant playing condition. Thank you for hosting us. After taking the lead early on from a penalty, confidence was soaring for our boys, which quickly led to 4 more Old Malton goals in quick succession. Leading 5 - 1 at Half time. The second half saw a further 3 goals scored for us, with some outstanding saves from Pocklington. Some great football was played today, from the whole team - but as this video shows, sometimes opportunity knocks for you to go it alone - and when it pays off is incredible to watch. *Full time result 8-1* Goal scorers: Olly Cooper ⚽⚽⚽⚽ Harley Shand ⚽⚽ Lewis Tonkinson ⚽ Ewan Weatherill ⚽ Man of the match - much deserved - Olly Cooper πŸ† 10/10 for effort and sportsmanship all round - we couldn't be prouder πŸ’™

Old Malton u13s Eagles met Easingwold at home in the cup today, and go through to the next round with an excellent 8-0 victory. A very good performance from the whole team, passing the ball with high tempo. All the way through Easingwold proved hard to break down as they defended deep, their keeper pulling off some amazing saves. The deadlock was broken by Bali drilling a low shot home, the game was played with a great atmosphere both sides, which was a pleasure. Goal scorers: Bali ⚽ Theo ⚽ Harley ⚽ Ewan ⚽ Olly ⚽⚽ Abdoul ⚽⚽ Man of the match: Lewis Tonk πŸ† Stand out moment: GK Adam finally getting a touch 😎

Today Old Malton St Marys Eagles Under 13s hosted York City Academy in the North Riding Cup. It looked a hard first round tie after a good run in the cup last year. First 5 minutes of the game Old Malton started really positively and were on top. Theo creating down the right and Josh and Ewan seeing plenty of ball. York broke well and Old Malton struggled to clear their lines. York scored with their first shot of the game, and from then on the game was very even and both sides battled hard and played some really good passing football. Lewis getting more into the game down the left as we looked to stretch York. York broke again and found themselves one on one and slotted the second home 2-0. Zac putting in superb effort with great work rate and breaking up play. Half time felt like we were still in the game, Arthur and Bali solid at the back. Second half kicked off and again Old Malton were on the front foot for the first few minutes and could have easily got a goal. York broke the line again and with first shot of second half made it 3 nil. Old Malton's heads never dropped. Henry finding Theo with a great pass down the wing, Theo beating his man to deliver a beautiful cross for Abdoul at full stretch to slot in, Old Malton's first goal ⚽ 3-1 creating a big lift for Old Malton and York looked a little rattled. Shortly after, Theo cut in from the wing to be brought down on the edge of the box, referee waved play on, Old Malton on the front foot again broke through Theo was through 1v1 with keeper when their defender pushed on the back and caught his heel again, referee waved no foul it seemed like it wasn't Old Malton's day. York then stepped it back up and in the last 10 minutes scored 2 very well taken goals. A great game of football played by both teams, we're sure York will go far in the cup and we wish them luck. Scorer Abdoul ⚽ Men of the match Arthur/Theo

βš½οΈπŸ’– U13 Girls πŸ’–βš½οΈ Our new U13 Girls kickstarted their pre season with a trip across the Yorkshire Wolds to play Driffield FC. A newly formed Old Malton St Mary's Junior Football Club team set up just a few weeks ago and with only a few training sessions under their belts it was a great opportunity to get the girls together to build their confidence, get to know one another and experiment with positions and formations πŸ‘πŸ»βš½οΈ This team means business πŸ’ͺ🏻 and today’s game showed their determination and desire and they will definitely be a force to be reckoned with πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ’– A huge thanks to Kristian & Nick for all their hard work over the past few weeks! What a team ⚽️

πŸ†βš½οΈπŸ’™πŸ§€ GK Appreciation πŸ§€πŸ’™βš½οΈπŸ† A couple of weeks ago we got a phone call from Tony at the Flamingoland Football Festival asking if we had a Goal Keeper available for a weekend tournament 🧀 A team travelling down from Northumberland were short due to their own GK picking up an injury, so up stepped our U9 goalie Jack to their rescue. Jack had never met any of the players until the morning of the first game but boy did he put on a fine display πŸ‘πŸ» Saving a penalty and pulling off some impressive saves on their route to the Final! And yes you guessed it… They won πŸ˜‚πŸ† Jack also got voted Team Player of the Weekend πŸ†πŸ‘πŸ» Well Done Jack πŸ‘πŸ» Old Malton St Mary's Junior Football Club are just as proud as your Dad πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ†

OMFC 7-1 Haxby Town U12s Today Old Malton Eagles hosted Haxby Town in one of our last remaining league fixtures. On a beautiful sunny day, the pitch looked unreal. From kick off, we were in control, we had possession and were strong. Only 2 minutes in, Teddy slipped past the last defender and calmly slotted the ball into the net ⚽. We stayed in control and very quickly the ball fell to Arthur's feet as he was bolting down the line, with nice controlled dribbling and a super strike, he buried it ⚽ Only a couple more minutes gone and a lovely corner crossed in by Ewan landed in perfect reach for Arthur to head it in ⚽. A mistake from a Haxby defender cost them as their last man miskicked and it crept into the goal ⚽ Goal no. 5 came in quick succession, another for Teddy Parkin ⚽, a magic ball that landed to his feet right in front of the goal line. Unfortunately, another mistake cost a 2nd own goal ⚽ from Haxby leaving the scores on the doors 6-0 at half time. 2nd half, Haxby came back hungry, they battled making things harder for us. But with some outstanding play, nice passing, a solid defence and great team work, this led to countless attempts on goal. The Haxby keeper was ready for each and every one, making some fantastic saves and keeping us out of the net. On the counter, Haxby saw an opportunity and powered through, striking at goal, saved by our keeper, but a dropped ball that then fell past the line cost us our clean sheet. But still fancying one more, we pushed hard and Bali, one on one with the keeper got the break and scored our 7th ⚽ and final goal of the game. Men of the match πŸ† Arthur and Bali Well done boys. Always proud. We missed a match report for our Tuesday night fixture this week, away to a strong Rufforth team. A solid battle from both teams throughout the whole match in awful weather conditions, Old Malton came away with a 4-3 win, with 2 goals from Lewis ⚽⚽ and 2 goals from Theo ⚽⚽, moving us up into

Under 12s - Old Malton Eagles 4 - 1 Haxby Town What a great response after the disappointment of last week. Straight from the kick off Old Malton showed great intent and had Haxby pinned in their own half. 10 minutes in, Old Malton could of been 3 up but some last ditch defending, great goalkeeping from Haxby and the cross bar kept us out. Haxby started pushing forward on the counter attack which opened the game up. Theo picked the ball up on the left and drove at the defence, drawing them in to then slide it through to Henry who made a great run to slot the ball ⚽ neatly past the rushing out keeper. Henry, a real nuisance up front then pounced to get his second ⚽ of the match before half time. Second half underway, Lewis decided at half time he wanted to score a header with his noggin, 10 minutes in, a great right hand corner whipped over from Jamie found Lewis's noggin ⚽ to make it 3. The game became more stretched, Haxby playing long ball whenever possible. Murray who made some great saves but also swept up behind the defence really effectively and showed great confidence. Murray's long clearance fell to Theo, who headed it in field to Josh who fed his midfield partner Bali, and he calmly slotted it past the keeper in the bottom corner ⚽. Ewan came very close with a long range effort that whistled past the post. Haxby got a consolation goal in the last few minutes to make it 4-1. With subs been made every 20 minutes, every player played their part in an outstanding performance, and the result was never in doubt. Liam playing right back then center back looked at ease in both positions. *Man of the Match* - Murray πŸ† For fantastic goalkeeping and showing huge confidence throughout the game.

Old Malton St Marys Eagles Under 12s hosted Bishopthorpe in the semi final of the league cup. League leaders Bishopthorpe still slight favorites even with Old Malton's recent win over them in the league. The game kicked off and for the first 10 minutes it was very even, both teams threatening trying to feed the channels and use pace. Old Malton got the break through; Josh winning the ball and finding Arthur who had pulled out wide, he played a great ball through for Theo to break free and round the keeper and slot it home ⚽ 1-0 The game became a real battle and test of both teams defence, Teddy, Owen and Josh making superb challenges and stopping any threats. Ewan and Bali battling really hard in midfield against tough opposition. Ewan fed Lewis down the left who cut inside with a cracking shot but found the cross bar. Bishopthorpe seemed to handle the ball on the edge of the box, referee waved it away which was a perfect free kick spot. After an energy zapping first half the second half was always going to be hard and so it was, again we defended brilliantly as we got pushed further back. Adam was doing brilliantly in goal as Bishopthorpe pressed. Zac and Henry were introduced off the bench; Henry's energy and drive was brilliant up front. Zac put his body on the line and was brilliant in defence, we looked dangerous on the counter attack but couldn't find the 2nd goal, referee was giving every 50-50 decision Bishopthorpe's way. 60 minutes gone and the game was seemingly over but stoppage time was added when a ball on the edge of the box was headed away the referee gave a free kick in very dangerous territory. Wall in position, 2 Bishopthorpe players stood offside in front of Old Malton's keeper blocking his view, the ball flew into the net, goal was given and game ended 1-1. To Penalties!! Old Malton hitting the cross bar and post were enough to deny us a place in the final after Adam's great save. Bishopthorpe win on penalties 5-4 πŸ₯…βš½ Re

Old Malton Eagles 2️⃣ - 1️⃣ Bishopthorpe What a result!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ With Bishopthorpe undefeated the whole season, we knew everybody had to give 100% effort to be in with a chance. From the get go it was tight, both teams battling and strong, but we were finding it hard to get the ball out of their half. As the minutes went on and we pressed hard we won a corner and a direct flukey whip in from Lewis went straight into the back of the net ⚽ giving us a 1 nil lead! Bishopthorpe didn't leave it long before they got the break and scored a screamer. Taking us to 1-1. We battled and worked hard as a team to find space and make good clear passes, and it paid off when Arthur got the ball outside the box and smashed it into the goal ⚽. 2-1 lead to us. Throughout the whole second half the ball was in equal possession, it was tight and both teams were strong. Both teams had solid defence and Murray our Old Malton keeper made some excellent saves to keep us in line for the win. No further goals scored. Whole team effort πŸ’ͺ🏻 End result 2️⃣-1️⃣ Old Malton. Men of the match πŸ† - Bali, Ewan and Josh. All were solid throughout, and couldn't pick of out of the 3. Outstanding moment from Liam with an incredible defensive block.
