How it started vs how it’s going. It’s been such a long time since an update.

A Happy New Year from our chaos to yours! Looking slightly better in Willerby than this image shows but still a mammoth way off.

This year. Well. Let’s just say we’re toasting to the last of it tonight and the beginning of the 187 days of January!!!
We’re in the hands of a higher being for this coming year as 2022 has quite frankly been the worst year ever for surprises and financial difficulties past what we thought was breaking point. Apparently not. As we’re still here. Still in major financial difficulty! But still breathing. Each new day brings its own set of challenges- we only now hope for the future days ahead of us that are going to be epic because of the struggles that we’re dealing with now.

I’ve dreamt that one day we’ll be cosy in Willerby, cookies in the oven, puzzle on the dining table (mid progress) and comfort. Simplicity in life for the good things is all we ask for.

We wish you everything for the New Year. Because. As we all know, they don’t teach us how life can really eff every plan in a minute.

We put this tree up. We cried. We decided that this year we didn’t want to ‘do Christmas’ but then we went and watched a nativity play with Lucas involved, and I, personally came home feeling like we had to document this occasion.

This is our last ever Christmas in this household. For the past eleven years we’ve made many memories, our children have grow here. Lucas was born upstairs. It’s hard being tenants of a house that someone else owns because you know that one day, the day will come when you’re served a section 21.
Doesn’t stop you living like the house is your own.

We have ceilings and we have working lights 😱 Yes. We did do a happy dance. And yes. It is the little things 😂

Our current predicaments have resulted very swiftly in us needing to find a new home (halfway there with Willerby but we still need a place to put it when finished) we also need a new workshop to continue with our passion as well as a storage space for the furniture and memories that we cannot bear to part with but cannot fit in the new home!

Not the most interesting image ever shared but it is rather exciting for us as this is our new flooring! Yet to be sanded until smooth, plus we don’t think we have enough for what we wanted, plus the other half got drenched outside and we’re now painstakingly drying the boards with heat guns 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 But apart from all that, we have a floor (well. A small part!)

Maybe one day I should just pretend that everything is insta perfect?! Nah. Keeping it real as always!

We all know one or have a special little wildling! Our youngest, Lucas is a true wild one at heart. He’s in his element when covered in mud, digging for treasure or ‘helping’ us build our new house as he puts it 😂

A “free” wooden ceiling. Don’t mind if we do!! This tongue and groove wood was previously an accent wall. So we simply removed it, stripped it and reused it for a greater purpose!

Found these gorgeous Victorian inspired tiles in today. These are definitely going in my basket for what will be our minuscule shower room! And plus, being professional tilers for the day job, how could we not have feature floor tiles?!

Have to say it’s been a very productive day - check last image for progress. Also you may notice that Willerby used to have inhabitants other than humans…something made very good use of the old bath/shower tray!

Problem is that I think this may have been the easiest stage 🤦🏻‍♀️

Lots more progress made on the signature oak piece today. Every piece just seems to add yet another dimension 😍
