What an honour to be invited by JimJam Arts to take part in the first day of the Folkestone Living Advent Calendar! His jokes might be questionable but his dedication to his choirs isn’t - Duncan’s been around since MASC began! A professional singer and music teacher, he’s got a knack for getting a great sound out of children, teens and adults alike. And for making absolutely everybody feel as welcome as they are in our lovely choirs. Why not come along to one and say hi? When Duncan Moris spotted the viral video of Corook and Olivia Barton singing this now incredibly famous song, he knew immediately it was one for choir. A celebration of the things that make us unique, it captured the hearts of millions back in April. The Shepway Primary Singers loved it too, and here they are performing it with gusto at the Leas Cliff Hall for the #MusicInMay event, #Choiraoke. 🎶 How lucky are we? Of all the fish in the sea, you get to be you and I get to be me! 🎶

Though she only took over as our intrepid leader this year, the Shepway Voices are already blown away by how Tania Holland Williams has developed our singing - as a choir *and* as individuals. Tania’s fun and challenging vocal exercises keep us on our toes (and keep us laughing!) and early signs are 👍 that we’ll have the privilege of absorbing some of her own musical talent - we’re sounding better than ever! Want to know what a SYV rehearsal sounds like? SOUND ON! You don’t need to be able to read music. Duncan teaches the parts at a beginner-friendly pace (and will give you very technical musical guidance, of course… “REMEMBER YOUR MOUTHS!” 😂). We do songs like this, usually chosen by members of the choir. Fun, right? TOMORROW and every Wednesday, Wood Ave Library, Folkestone. 6pm - 7:15pm for ages 10-18.
