Alexandra Brown works mainly in oils and with pastel on paper. Her paintings are a celebration of the natural world. They reflect a sacred, still part of ourselves, drawing us to meditate upon the animals and plants that have always been so important to our lives and our existence on this planet. Many of the paintings incorporate distressed copper which can create many effects and also imbues the paintings with an elemental and sacred quality.

From an Illustration and Print degree, Steven Jenkins has extended to surface decoration on pottery and textiles. Influenced by 20th Century artists, particularly those of the Festival of Britain era, he has a keen interest in ancient cultures and medieval decoration. He works from sketches and takes these through to pen drawings, linocuts or paintings. Plant motifs seen in his Somerset/Wiltshire surroundings often turn up repeatedly in various forms.
Next up we have painter Miguel Ornia-Blanco.
This is what he says about his work.
Working on canvas painting in oil primarily, I paint urban and natural landscapes. I try and capture those inner feelings these spaces give me. I work mostly from sketch’s that I have created out in the environment as I feel drawing really captures movement and life. The painting process plays with distortion and resistance. I try to play with that knife edge balance of letting the paint find it’s own chaotic way and myself exerting just enough controls to create an image that feels alive and in motion. Each painting is its own experiment. Possible failure is an ever present. The possibility of success drives myself and the work forward.
You will find Miguel inside the gallery on Saturday with a selection of his work.
