Sweet little snippet from a just finished wildlife garden. With pond, woven hazel fencing, log habitat piles, a mossy mini no mow lawn and lots of pollinator plants and trees. We spotted goldfinches & a wren during the last few planting days.
Trees & hedge planted late winter, now the understory is all laid out and ready to plant. Looking forward to seeing this one, along with the others, grow! π±
A sunny afternoon wondering around and studying South Wood Farm. A lot of structural elements and shapes along with softness of meadow planting and woods for balance.
Close up of the pleached crabapple blossom. Not Evereste as ordered but beautiful anyway! Any ideas which it could be? Floribunda?
The pleached crabapple is starting to bloom!
Choosing materials for next projects. Always a fun, creative part of the design process but so important to get right!
The pleached trees and hedging are in, now fingers crossed for some drier weather for perennial planting!
Favourite thing flowering in my garden right now, Clematis macropetala. Scrabbling through a witch hazel, it really shines against the backdrop of the slatted fencing.
Looking forward to seeing these pleached crabapples and yew hedging go in today. They'll divide the front and back gardens whilst still allowing a window through to the views beyond. Cottage gardens pretties will be planted in front. This replaces a badly situated bamboo hedge that was very un-in keeping with the house and landscape!
Masterplan stage for this one, finalising materials, honing the details, whilst looking ahead to the planting and catching the end of the rootball season.
Big tree planting tomorrow in a different but connected area of the garden. Looks like great weather for it πβ
Creating a welcoming atmosphere for this home was top of the list. Currently being transformed from hotel to home, the front garden and drive plays a key part in this.
Pleached crabapple will gently frame the front entrance and divide front and back gardens, pitcher details adds something special and ample drive provides plenty of parking.
We've just started the excavations so there's a way to go!
First of the year this pocket size garden, designed with rebalanced seating areas and lush shady planting.
Next up, a large Victorian home and garden with a couple of acres, starting with lots of tree planting.
Happy New Year everyone! We spent a lovely day at and Tetbury. I pondered tree selections on our stroll.
Some exciting new design projects booked for 2024 as well as builds from 2023 designs. Looking forward to getting started!
For this beautiful country home, with it's perfectly restored stonework entrance, classic and elegant planting keeps the balance and frames the view, whilst wisteria and hydrangea adds some softness and charm.
Some early autumn colour πΏ
Spent a great, very sunny day at gardens, with talks about planting and structure to support biodiversity.
We looked at planting into sand and gravel, varying topography, structures and layers. Also how good Orchards are for wildlife.
All this needs adjusting to work within people's individual garden spaces and maintenance levels but lots to take home!
Swishy planting breaks up this path and terrace. Planting along the garden boundary is naturalistic, with an open feel to blend with the countryside beyond, rather than blocking it.
Hard to photograph with the intense bright light π
stackers are used for detailing throughout the garden, here between the planting, but also forms the base of a water feature, walling and path edging. More to photograph of this garden!

Wildflowers, hedgerow and crabapple along this countryside driveway makes for a good combination.
