Labour Of Love
Upcycling & Furniture Restoration
A lesson in painting …
This bedside was given to me by my client who had attempted to do it herself. As you can see from the video & photos, it’s a pretty harsh paint job (lots of brush strokes, bubbling & runs along with poor preparation which has caused staining/ bleed through from the tannins in the wood)
After carefully stripping the old paint off and sanding back to raw wood, the bedside has been thoroughly cleaned, primed and hand painted to match its family members. What a difference
Remember the armoire I recently refinished?
Well, here’s its matching dressing table✨
I loved this piece as is, but to keep in theme with the room it had to be painted to match its older sibling.
They are reunited at last & a matching bedside table will be next🏄🏽♀️
Refinished in “Cathedral Taupe” and “Chateau” using and rollers for that perfect smooth finish
Hi everyone - it’s been a while… but I’m very happy to say I’ll be back posting more and more
I recently had the pleasure of working on an antique wardrobe & thought I would video the process - this has all been sped up of course😂 there were hours of prep work involved, about 5 hours on sanding, cleaning and priming to be exact 😅 ( a labour of love you could say )
Refinished in Fusion Mineral Paint “Cathedral Taupe” with a subtle contrasting shade “Chateau” on the curvatures to bring them them to the forefront again. This is my go to colour combination for French style furniture - the beige and stone is just so timeless and elegant.
Had a cute little helper too (click video to see)

First commission of the year: Complete☑️
So incredibly proud of this -
The 24 hours of sanding were worth it🤣🤩🤣🤩
When this desk first arrived, it was in a terrible state. The dark varnish really did the desk no favours, the drawer fronts were battered & bruised, the leather was all ripped up and there were lots of surface marks.
But just look at what was underneath all that …
Massive shout out to - their “Golden Pine” stain & finishing oil is beautiful - the colour is so rich & expensive looking!!!
Clear Wax buffed on top really revived the natural wood grain too!
Once stained, I just knew this desk was destined for Chesterfield leather, masculine drawer handles and brass finishing trims.
What was once neglected, can be reloved for years to come! Here’s hoping it’s new home loves it just as much as I do
✨ Happy New Year everyone ✨
It’s been a while, and I have really missed transforming furniture into something that can be cherished and admired once again.
Life gets in the way sometimes (and Scottish weather doesn’t help things) but I’m so pleased to say that I’ll be opening up my diary for 2023 for any new or existing clients who are on the hunt for preloved furniture for their homes, or simply want to refresh items they already have!
Alongside commission work, I’ll also be selling furniture which I have restored just for fun - so keep your eyes peeled…🏡🙌👀
I currently have a sideboard and bureau in stock - both are beautiful and quirky, and just waiting patiently on a new home to go to!! So if you like what you see; get in touch for more info, sizing and prices☺️

Any likes & shares would be massively appreciated - thank you in advance 💓 and roll on 2023
How gorgeous are these bedside cabinets💕
These were given to me from a returning client to match a chest of drawer set - which I’m sure will all look wonderful together!
They were originally dark oak, but after sanding multiple layers of varnish, priming, adding a neutral base and going in with “Casement” several times, they’re now a cool shade of White🤍
Insides have been painted using “Comch” and papered in “Juliette” - a very delicate print which perfectly mimics the carved doors! (It also turns out my client has the same paper in other areas of her home… great minds think alike 🤪)
Can’t stop staring at this🥺
I loved this unit from the very beginning and just HAD to keep it for my own bedroom🥰
It’s about time I painted to keep for myself 🤪
The curved drawer fronts were super difficult to sand, but with some time and perseverance they revealed a really unusual wood grain (which still shines through in certain lights😍)
Refinished in Cathedral Taupe & Chateau (my go to combo - the colours are just so dreamy) with stain and finishing oil in Driftwood on the top and a wash of liming wax for a weathered effect!
✨SOLD✨
French Style Bedroom Set
Refinished in “White Cap” with a wash of “Sawmill Gravy” and their voodoo gel stain in “Up in Smoke” on the counter tops with a hint of liming wax for more depth.
Cup handles have been freshened up in White Gold to keep everything nice & modern - these would make a perfect addition to a french / country style bedroom decor
Strongbow Sideboard
This beauty has been refinished in “Stormy Seas” - a gorgeous hue of teal.
The drawer fronts have been adorned in a muted floral papering and for a finishing touch, the legs & handles have been gilded in Copper leaf.
Sealed with Hemp Oil for a subtle sheen and Big Mamma’s Butter in Orange Grove to revive the wood and make everything smell absolutely fabulous 🍊
Been very quiet recently, and took some time away - but I’m back (with lots more to share) and I’m so excited to share my latest commission piece🤩
This Dollhouse style chest of drawers has been restored and is looking very elegant in “Casement” with subtle shimmer on the intricate detailing thanks to Pearlescent Glaze. The counter has been stained using Voodoo Gel and the entire unit has a gorgeous sheen when the natural light hits - thanks to Clear Satin Top Coat
I couldn’t resist adding stencil detailing to the drawer slides, and the vintage lace pattern is perfect for these drawers✨
As are the multi tonal handles (because plain gold would have been too boring🤪)
From dull yellow tones to a glorious white - I’m sure this will look even better in its forever home 🏡💕 thank you to my lovely client for trusting me with this… matching bedsides to follow soon too☺️

Art Deco Style Display Cabinet
Beautiful before, beautiful after.
I loved the arch shape window on this piece, it was such an unusual design feature - and I knew immediately that I wanted to strip it all back and give a bleached effect to the oak.
This was achieved using a 50/50 paint wash of Raw Silk and sealed in several coats of wax (making it super soft to the touch)🤩 and the metallic detailing is all thanks to the magic of
Brushed Steel
An absolute pleasure working on this sideboard🌈✨
Keeping things very sleek with this one. Refinished in “Deep Sea” with White Gold handles for a touch of subtle elegance and Hemp Oil to give it a lovely soft sheen. The finish is super smooth thanks to microfibre rollers😽
The inside drawer was once green felt (and had seen better days), but it has been given an update with some navy & silver geometric paper. All drawer sides have been stencilled for an added surprise🤩
A fabulous piece of furniture, just in need of some tlc 🥰💞
✨French Chateau Style Bedside Drawers✨
These bedsides are just LUSH😚 the detailing is exquisite!!! An absolute joy to finish this pair that will be heading to their new home this week🏡
Refinished in “Cathedral Taupe” & “Chateau” with gel stain applied all over in “Tobacco Road” for that aged look. Carvings highlighted in no pain gel stain in White and for the faded grandeur effect on the legs I flicked the stain with a small artist brush.
Insides have been decoupaged and the handles have been changed & sprayed in “White Gold” to give a softer, more feminine touch to the overall look

The sleepless nights were all worth it ✨✨✨ Here’s my latest commission piece - a stunning sideboard which was over 100 years old😧
My client wanted a neutral colour palette to suit her decor & as this was such an intricate piece of furniture, I felt that subtly was key.
Instead of highlighting the features with dark and white wax, I chose to create depth by using “Cathedral Taupe” all over, with “Chateau” on the accents to give a two tonal effect. This was the perfect way to achieve an elegant French Country look (without going “shabby chic”)
Bleed through was a major issue on this piece, and it has taken 3 coats of BOSS (White) & 4 jars of FMP to get to where we are… a lot of blood, sweat and tears went into painting all of the little details - but isn’t she a beauty? 😍 My favourite restoration thus far!!!

Petite Ladies Writing Bureau
I really do love “Deep Sea” paired with Gold😍 don’t think I could have chosen any other combination for this beautiful bureau! So glad I decided to keep the exposed wood (it was in such lovely condition I couldn’t paint over it!!) And don’t get me started on those legs✨✨✨
This piece has a gorgeous sheen all over - thanks to Dixie Belle Hemp Oil (applied with a tanning mitt believe it or not) - I’ll certainly be using this method again☺️
Ready to be loved again, message for more info and prices🕊
Loved doing this commission set for a very lovely client who allowed me to have free reign over the design! 🥰
Refinished in “Wharf” with “Baja Grey” & Silver gilding on the stencil details
