Exercise from today’s session is the spider curl! An exercise that’s great for building up a great peak for your biceps as this cuts out the ability to use momentum as opposed to regular standing bicep curl. How to- sit the bench at an incline and fully extend your torso and try to hover just over the edge of the bench. Retract your shoulder shoulders and lower the barbell/dumbbells until just before your elbows lockout and then curl the weight up and flex your bicep as much as possible. Give it a go! 💪🏽👌🏽 #bicepworkout #flex #wednesdayworkouts #scotland #glasgowpt #glasgowwestend #westend #personaltraining #pt #stealthfitness #gymgroup #gymgroupwestend
Here’s a great variation of the pec fly using the cable machine, it’s always great to utilise both machines and dumbbells and with using the cables it’s constant tension on the muscle and great as a finisher! To perform correctly keep your getting firmly on the floor and keep a slight bend in your elbows through the whole exercise, with your shoulder blades retracted act as if your giving a bear hug out in front of your chest. With the eccentric phase Bring it back to a mild tension and feel the pec stretch and then return to the start squeezing the middle of your chest as hard as you can 👌🏽 I feel a whole lot more comfortable with the bench at an incline as I feel this puts less strain on the shoulders than it does with a flat bench, but everyone has their own preferences so give it a go! #fitness #gymworkouts #chestworkouts #glasgow #stealthfitness #personaltrainerglasgow #scotland #pt #gymgroup
Importance of resistance training As the opening of gyms near, we can now get our plans/routines in order. Whether our goals are muscle building or fat loss resistance training should be a key factor to us reaching our goals! A lot of people (mainly) females think that they shouldn’t train with weights because they “ don’t want to look too bulky “ so they just stick to the hamster wheel but here are a few of MANY reasons why you should incorporate resistance training into you regime… - Improved muscle strength and tone – to protect your joints from injury. This will also help prevent conditions like sarcopenia ( muscle wastage ) as you age. - Increased bone density, This will help prevent things like osteoporosis later in life. - Improved posture ( with the correct exercises ) - Prevention or control of chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, back pain, depression and obesity. - Greater performance of every day tasks That is only a few and if it is only aesthetics/ beach bod you are after I can guarantee you’d much rather the end result with a combination of cardio and resistance training instead of burning endless calories running. If anyone would like a workout plan designed to fully suit you goals get in touch.
