❄❄ 2 days 'til Christmas! ❄❄
Here is Jennifer's arrangement of 'Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!' by Dean Martin. We hope you enjoy it!
Check out our YouTube channel for this and more! We still have one more festive performance to go.
3 days 'til Christmas!
Here is Verity's arrangement of Silent Night for two cellos and piano, inspired by Rick Nelson's choral arrangement.
Silent Night was first performed on Christmas Eve 1818, bringing the story and atmosphere of a calm and bright silent night to people in a difficult time. We hope this brings some festive joy to everyone during this year's Christmas season.
If you haven't already please check out our Youtube page to find this arrangement and more, and stay tuned for more videos over the next few days as we countdown to Christmas!
4 days till Christmas!
Here is David's arrangement of Leroy Anderson's 'Sleigh Ride'. We hope this brings some festive joy and spirit to everyone during these unusual times.
If you haven't already please check out our Youtube page to find this and more! Keep a lookout for more videos over the next few days!
5 days till Christmas! Here is Agostina's arrangement of the classic 'Once in Royal David's City'. We all had a lot of fun doing this. Keep a lookout for more videos over the next few days!
🎁 The Gilmore Ensemble Christmas Countdown 🎁
Starting this Sunday, we will be counting down the last 5 days before Christmas with one festive musical video each day (20th-24th)!
They'll be showcased over on our new Gilmore Ensemble YouTube channel - make sure to go and subscribe for some festive cheer!
We've been working on these from our homes all over GB, and we can't wait to share them with you! 🎄
(Unfortunately Agostina isn't in this festive picture, but she will be taking part in the videos! ❤)
Thanks so much to everyone who came to watch us today, in person and online! Was a great experience and a pleasure to share it with you all ❤
The words of the poem "Starlight at Sea," by Katharine Lee Bates, set to original compositions by members of the ensemble.
We hope you enjoy our performance!
5 days to go and we hope you’re as excited as we are!
Ciara🎻
Katherine Lee Bates’ poem “Starlight at Sea” was presented to the group by Verity as a focus point for the performance.
Over the past week our members have been taking time to reflect and describe in as few words as possible on what the poem means to them after spending time compositing music to accompany the words.
We would love to hear your thoughts on the poem! Here’s what we came up with:
“there is hope, even in darkness, “shadows will always exist in the light” and “calm in all the chaos”.
Below are the words of the poem for your own reflection while we are in this time of stress and uncertainty.

Hello! We are the Gilmore Ensemble, a group of six music students at the University of Glasgow brought together by the uni to work on a 10-minute concert to take place on 26 November 2020. Here's a picture of our first (and socially distanced) rehearsal!
We’ll be using this page to document parts of our rehearsals and to keep you up to date with our progress and what’s going on.
The project we’re working on, Starlight at Sea, will be a 10-minute immersive and atmospheric experience to take place in the University Chapel. The words of Katherine Lee Bates' poem 'Starlight at Sea' will be set to music, both composed and performed by the Gilmore Ensemble. The event will be livestreamed online, but limited in-person tickets are available on our Eventbrite page (https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/starlight-at-sea-tickets-126000716535).
