New class alert! 🔔
I’m excited to be starting a new Yoga and Movement class this Friday at 9.30am in Pollokshields Burgh Hall!
The hall is situated on the corner of Maxwell Park, so it’s an ideal location to enjoy yoga and also some time in nature before or afterwards ☺️🌸
Class description is as follows:
‘A softly flowing yoga class with added mobility and strength work, depending on the theme. Every 3-4 weeks we will approach a new theme or peak pose, with subtle changes and varied transitions week to week. Class will close in a meditative way, usually with downward regulation of the nervous system and Savasana (relaxation).’
It should be playful and a lot of fun, and is suitable for anyone with a little bit of yoga experience who can easily take themselves on and off the floor.
I’m really looking forward to meeting and moving with you there!
First class is free, hurrah! Bring your yoga mat and any props you find useful ☺️

I’m so chuffed with this stunning new space for hosting the Killearn Vinyasa Yoga class. With its abundance of natural light, huge elegant floor space (with under-floor heating!!) and natural birdsong soundscape, it offers us the perfect spot to come together and share our practice.
I’ve decided this term to experiment with a slightly new format. Instead of each and every class standing alone, we’ll work in blocks of roughly three classes around a single theme. I’m hoping this gives everyone more time to familiarise themselves with particular poses and movement patterns, that they can then incorporate into their own practice (perhaps… no pressure!) Of course we will spice things up with different ways into and out of our main sequence, with options to layer on and off that sequence depending on our inclination on the day. My classes usually have a playful element, so expect to find balances at unusual moments, take yourself awkwardly (or seamlessly?!) on and off the floor or to have a wild crawl around.
Our first theme is the back body, with a focus on strengthening, active stretching and awareness. Class is 75 mins so there will be ample time for restoring, resting and even lovely Savasana adjusts. This should help you to leave feeling energised but also nourished and calm for the weekend ahead.

you were tough, beautiful, mysterious and strange.
I came to the hard decision to make Scotland my home again, but I’ll be back to visit your rough edges and curious landscapes…
For now: Scottish yoga class planning, students to find 🎼, and projects to build…
Looking forward to saying hello Scottish friends 💙
After handing in my Icelandic residency application yesterday it’s starting to feel like a wrap (once again!) here in the UK.
I was sad to have to cancel yoga classes early due to a niggling shoulder injury, but so happy to receive these last kind words from piano and yoga students.
It’s really been A PLEASURE working with you all. I’ve been blessed to have such lovely lovely students 🌺✨
So much love and luck in everyone’s onward practice. I hope it takes you where you need to go 🤸🏽♂️❤️💛🏔️
I’ll be around in July for any last music or yoga lesson needs. Do hit me up if you have any final requirements!
And we’re back!

Spring light is suddenly throwing all the details into relief! I had a lovely potter in the Killearn surrounds yesterday, getting some leaflets on notice boards and dallying in coffee hot spots (see the beautiful views of Loch Lomond hills & vicinity from Killearn Village Hall).
As well as the glossy detail on spring shoots & moss, I’ve been noticing the dust and dirt in my house more, and suffering a slightly overwhelming need to have it all ‘fixed’. Spring for me is both exhilarating and a bit exhausting.
In easing myself through the change I’ve been working on inviting in the new and hoped for states, rather than fixating on the things I want to push out (hello the dirt and dust of the mind). Where I do get caught up in the negatives and garbage I’m asking myself to find a happy opposite, something new and light and alive!! to usher in.
Sometimes it’s tricky. Those who know me well know that I’m a bona fide insomniac (hihi insomnia self-identification). And what is an opposite of worrying about sleep? Is it taking and enjoying deep rest in any form? Or being awake more joyously and to the full? Its pretty nebulous really, and so all the more fun to experiment with😎.
More thematic suggestions along these lines in class on Sat. No pressure to indulge them though! Physically speaking we might ask how we want to feel and move in our bodies (easefully, pain-free, without worry or like a child perhaps?) and then just go ahead and try to BE IT💃🏼.
Sound refreshing? Come along Sat 10.30am to take it into the body 🧘🏽♀️🌱
Another day another poster.
Sending this one off to make its merry way in the local hood.
Vinyasa Yoga classes continue this Saturday over at in Killearn. Come get your movement medicine for the weekend folks!
Class numbers are limited to ten to ensure a delicious and cosy yoga experience. Bring your favourite blanket for quiet Savasana joys.
Now available to book ahead on Linktree 👍🏼 https://linktr.ee/aliceelms
Here is my wonderful student finding her chill at the end of class today, and powering through some seriously strong lunges. Plus the studio wall (because I feel like we embodied many of these things 💪🏽)!
New classes can be hard. People don’t show up; you start to think all your efforts are in vain.
But if even ONE student does show up, and even more so if they’re a returning student… and then they tell you how improved their energy was after the previous week’s class. WELL. Doesn’t it all feel so utterly worthwhile? Yes it does!
Lots of smiles and laughter during class today as we played with balance & proprioception, goddesses and twists…
Many thanks student!
Next Vinyasa class at in Killearn (next to Turnip the Beet) will be tomorrow! Here is the list of dates for the spring term ☺️. We got off to a cracking start last week; I’m looking forward to meeting more yogis tomorrow 🍄.
Do join us! 🧘🏽♀️
What a smashing Saturday morning teaching Vinyasa at Studio63 in Killearn!!Such a warm vibe and fabulous students who really gave it their all! Impressive 👌🏼.
And just look at this beautiful space. We had a soundtrack of soothing Scottish rain. Loved it; thanks for coming everyone 🌧️ ⛅️
I’m full of the lurgy so this taster class will be on the 14th instead of the 7th.
Many apologies for the change! It’s not the best way to start the year, but I’m calling in all the yogi patience I can muster to finally reach the new beginnings. So sure it will be fabulous once we’re there 🌟
I’ve decided to cap numbers for this class at ten, so that each student feels attended to, and to make the best use of the beautiful space. We will have room to move and breathe and enjoy the stunning views.
Email me at [email protected] to book.
Peace and wellness to you all going into 2023. Looking forward to meeting some keen new yogis 💙
Enjoying the first hints of on the piano 🎄
Last night we were graced with a ‘rainbow sky’ sunset for lessons (its funny how kids notice and describe everything… I didn’t understand why it was a rainbow sky until I directed my camera lens on it).
This little one is suddenly looking quite the pianist! Happy winter evenings folks 💗❄️.
Today I was out sourcing a beautiful yoga studio to hire near my home town. Post expedition walks were glorious, with a sombre and strange late autumn light. Looking forward to sharing details of classes coming soon 🤸🏽♂️. Watch this space 👀…
