In our Whiskeria magazine Autumn 2024 issue, we highlight the endeavours of two recipients of the Scott Dunn Award, a prize founded in remembrance of the much-missed manager of our Inverness shop, who passed away suddenly in 2021.

The award is presented to support staff members in their chosen entrepreneurial pursuit. Lynsey Edmunds (Manager of our Multrees Walk store) put her prize towards her business, Lukenbooth Larder Tablet, which you can find in our three Edinburgh locations.

She said: "I feel so honoured to have received this award set up in his memory."

New In: King's Inch 8 Year Old 👑

The King's Inch 8 year old is an excellent example of a bourbon and sherry cask vatting made to be bottled at a younger age statement. West coast barley, narrow cut points in the distillation and fresh casks all contribute to the deep and ever changing nature of the spirit. Produced in Glasgow, the Lowland single malt is presented at 46% abv, and is a small vatting release of just 1,500 bottles.

For Whiskeria Autumn 2024, we headed to Islay with guest writer, Kristiane Sherry, to discover why the isle's newest distillery links one family's past, present and future. We meet with distillery manager David Livingstone (pictured), and explore their stunning location in the shadow of the Paps of Jura.

New In: 1770 Glasgow Peated Tokaji Cask Batch 2 🪵

From the Glasgow Distillery Co, this limited edition release is a marriage of four first-fill bourbon casks, which completed a second maturation in Hungarian Tokaji casks for three years and six months. An unpeated expression, filled into just 1300 bottles at 54.8% abv in 2024. Expect notes of floral honey, tropical fruits and mixed spice.

Taking its name from the location by Loch Ardnahoe, Ardnahoe is Scottish Gaelic for 'Height of the Hollow'. This is the first single malt from the newest distillery on Islay, which has been matured for five years in a combination of bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks. Shortbread, baked apples and Islay peat smoke on the nose. Custard, ginger, lemon zest and baked apples on the palate lead into a long and smoky finish.
