Videos by SWG3 Arts in Glasgow. SWG3 is a multi-disciplinary arts space in the westend of Glasgow. We run an annual programme of exhibitions, band nights and events as well as being home to a community of over 120 artists and musicians.
Yardworks Festival 2023 is now on sale, and we cannot wait for another incredible weekend of colour, creativity, collaboration, skating, painting, workshops, street food, bars, music and everything that happens in between.
The concrete playground that is the Galvanizers Yard will once again be transformed into a vibrant, riotous open-air art gallery as some of the biggest urban artists from across the globe, as well as the local talent bursting out of our city, will pile in to create murals in real-time.
As always, families (and dogs) are very welcome, and there’ll be tons on to occupy all ages, from Mia McGregor’s interactive Cubes to painting workshops, face-painting, baby-and-toddler-disco Mini Manoeuvres and a half-pipe.
This year we have something extra special lined up, as we’ll be officially launching the Yardworks Studio. On Saturday 6 and Sunday 7, you’ll get a chance to have a swatch at the UK’s first dedicated studio for urban art — a purpose-built hub that will provide a home for hundreds of artists, youth organisations and community projects to create work in.
With an artist list so far including the likes of Jay Kaes, .EPOD, Morf, Aches and KMG, keep your eyes peeled for many more announcements coming over the next two months.
This year’s artists so far (A-Z):
ACHES, AROE, Box Vincent, Danny Rumbl, Drik The Villain, Easi, EKTO, .EPOD, Etnik, INSANE51, Jay Kaes, KMG, Mak One, Marcamix031, Molly Hankinson, Morf, Philaico Mei, POSEA, Rask, SAIR MAX, Saturno, SledOne, Smug, Ster, TONES, VOID ONE, VOYDER, WOSKERSKI

Last year’s miniature edition of the Yardworks Festival: huge hit with the kids. As well as providing you with a day out that is going to entertain you and them (and comes with a bar), as usual we have tons lined up specifically for babies and older children, namely: - Mini Manoeuvres: a baby-toddler-adult disco in the Warehouse (with outdoor seating, food and drink on hand) - The Cube project: Europe’s largest participatory art project, where children make their own designs - Sawdust sandcastles: self-explanatory - Ice cream van: self-explanatory Please bear in mind you’ll need a separate ticket for Mini Manouevres, which includes entry to Yardworks too — and Sunday has now sold out. See their page for more. Also, we’re aware they are different to children, but dogs are also very welcome. Yardworks Festival | 18-19 June | bit.ly/YardworksTickets

We’re very, very happy that, thanks to funding from Inspiring Scotland and Awards for All, we’ll be able to continue our work in Govan for another 12 months. Our Yardworks artists have been working with children and young people in Govan on developing street art skills - which goes hand in hand with increasing confidence and forming relationships. We’ve delivered more than 55 hours of creative workshops in the community and engaged over 150 people in creative events, workshops and talks. Thanks to this reinvestment, we’ll be able to carry on. So, watch this space for some pretty exciting mural installations coming to Govan… and watch the video to see how we celebrated the end of the project, with a very special mini-edition of the Yardworks festival. We’d like to deeply thank all of the brilliant partners, artists and participants who made all of this possible - here’s to more good stuff coming soon. Southsiders: there is a new mural at Shawlands Shopping Centre created by some of our Yardworks street artists and a group of impressively creative, quick-learning and wide-hearted young people from Shawlands Academy, celebrating diversity in their local community. Children are the future and all that, eh? Hearts = spent. Totally brilliant project. If you're walking past let us (and them) know what you think.
