Carpentry, Joinery, bespoke wood work solutions
Floating shelves and lower units installed, one side a log store, the other a cupboard.
Theme of this week is upcycle, reuse, repurpose.
Bootroom storage and seat upcycled from some old Ikea wardrobes. And old drawer units.
Breakfast bar installed
New bath panels, flooring going down soon.
8 solid, and 2 glazed oak doors fitted, a modification was required for the architrave that fitted the front room glazed door, as the wall was particularly narrower than the frame, the option to cut the frame to size wasn’t available, so bulking out each side by utilising two lots of architrave, one turned backwards and a piece of quadrant, was the solution in this instance.
Double sliding doors in, too separate kitchen and living room. Maximising the floor space
Been a cold one on the roof this week, with Ian fulcher from fulcher joinery
Wheather has played havoc with the progress, but roofed and windows in, windows made from external grade timber doors, a bit of jiggery pokery was required.
Started to stud out and Board an old doorway, then was asked can we put a bookshelf in the wall?
Yes we can. Book shelve was made from and old wardrobe door none the less
Flooring down.
Bifolds in
Alcove cupboard and shelf install complete ready for paint
Todays office, beginning of phase 3.
Composite decking down, lights installed
A hot couple of days in this sun trap
12 oak doors fitted, a pair of French doors and custom frame fitted into the front room, a custom made oak mantle piece feature, and to finish off open up the under stairs for a larger door making it easier to access.
Small space = custom made
My work is complete on this project, 11 original solid hardwood, internal doors refurbished and hung.
50+meters of skirting fitted
Original architrave restored and refitted
17 sash windows restored and all opening with
new cords pullys and weights.
Exterior window cills repaired/replaced where needed.
200 individual panes of glass removed from 65 window frames, frames then routed out to accept new double glazing units, re-puttied to keep original appearance from outside.
Lead light windows cleaned with broken/cracked glass replaced
Interior window cills cut and fitted, painters will finish off outside as soon as weather picks up.
Improvise, adapt and overcome.
Made up some matching architrave with only a table saw and a sander.
And that’s a wrap for 2022 a busy year with a variety of work, everything from custom builds to full on restoration. Finishing off the year with with some window restoration from a turn of the 19th century property, I’ve been working at this location for the majority of the year, and the transformation is immense, here’s a snippet
I wanted to try and save as much of the window cill and frame but unfortunately it was too far gone, so using what timber was lying around the project I was able to hand make a new window panel and repair the cill itself, using a small table saw and a modified router bit. All ready for the painters.
A cold conservatory now a toasty warm space, after insulating the glass roof and then fitted with new white tongue and groove PVC cladding.
Last few days installing these floating shelves and alcove cabinets, recycling and modifying the original set of drawers to fit, recycling and reusing the old Victorian skirting.
New cupboard made up for the left hand side with raised panel doors to match the original set of drawers.
Over to the customer to paint/stain
