I’ve decided that making 4 red special has become rather time consuming and fairly expensive. I’ve completed all necks and routed corresponding bodies up to this point. I am therefore going to be completing 2 out of the 4 in the coming weeks and putting the other 2 aside. One of the rs’s will be put up for sale. Either on here or reverb. Cutting binding channels!

I often used to wonder why it was the red special guitar cost so much money. It doesn’t use any exotic materials or any special electronics. It does however have a lot of hand work go into it. Many many hours of work go into these guitars. After these four red specials I may be taking a break from the red specials. They are very gorgeous guitars but incredibly time consuming. So if anyone is interested in buying one of them when completed please send me a message 🎸🎸🎸

Necks are carved and fine sanded, and to say that was hard work is an understatement! Mother of pearl dot markers installed. Fretboards levelled. If anyone is interested in these before I put, what I would call, the standard parts on ie the tuners and pickups, please message me.

Neck carving, my most favourite part of any guitar build!

Hi folks, this is one of the 4 red special guitar necks I’m currently working on. All 4 truss rods have been hand made and installed, truss Rod adjustment nuts made and installed, huge 10mm bolts installed and now wooden infills made and flush trimmed to the top of the neck. All 4 fretboards have been radiused and dot markers drilled. Next step is to glue on the fretboards.

So, slowly getting go there with the red special builds. There is a fourth RS but I’m currently working on that one. Just gotta make the tremolo systems then get to finishing. Hi folks, having to cut the hardwood inserts for a Red special, by hand, because my small bandsaw isn’t quite powerful enough to re-saw wood of that thickness, is actually killing me! Aching is not the word to describe it!
