Our special Christmas guest, Tabitha, has discovered the optimum spot in the house for AGA warmth, underfloor heating + late morning sun!

It's a lot harder than you'd think to vacuum the nap flat on a full-sized snooker table, because the rules require you to have at least one foot on the floor at all times.

When they said the Harrogate Christmas Fayre was going to be bigger than ever this year, I didn't realise they meant the Ferris wheel in particular!

The Fayre opens tomorrow and will run until the 11th. Why not sample the view from the top of the wheel to see why Harrogate is officially the UK's prettiest winter tourist destination?

Long winter evenings aren't all bad.

The Christmas market season is almost upon us! Harrogate's Christmas Fayre promises to be bigger and better than ever, with an open-air ice rink to add to its many other attractions, such as a Ferris wheel and Helter Skelter, rows of stalls with local & craft present ideas and of course the food and drink stands. Open from 2 - 11 December, except the ice rink, which is here until 3 January. Knaresborough's traditional Christmas Market is on over the first weekend of December and Skipton's, which combines tradition with eccentricity, takes place on the first two Sundays of the month.

If you're considering a short break to soak up the atmosphere of one or more of our local Christmas markets, why not stay in a property with a hot tub for you to head back to after a hard day's shopping? We know which camp we fall into and we reckon any sceptics will be converted! We've written a beginners' guide for any guests who might need it and there are several AGA cookbooks for you to dip into as well.

Well, that's Hallowe'en out of the way, I can just about get my head round the concept of Christmas now!

Christmas and New Year at Tinkers Folly are no longer available, but we can offer a two-night break from the 27th to the 29th of December. Ideal for recovering from the chaos of Christmas or gathering strength ready for New Year's Eve!

We took advantage of the weather this afternoon to pop to the excellent Birchfield Farm for our pumpkins! Still plenty left if you would like to buy direct from a farm this year! Also, coffee.

After a rainy start, it's been a lovely last full day for our guests.

We only launched just over a week ago and already the bookings and enquiries are coming in thick and fast! One of the best things about staying in a holiday property located on a working farm is the neighbours.

I couldn't resist popping to Tinkers Folly today, ostensibly to do a last-minute check and put out the welcome pack for our guests, but really to admire the results of all our hard work yesterday! It looked superb in the autumn sun. Our lovely guests are delighted with the place and looking forward to a fantastic week exploring this part of the world.
