No matter what your New Year's resolutions are, if any, I want you to remember how vital it is to manage and mitigate the stressors in your life. How does stress impact the body according to TCM?
😣Digestion: our Liver is the system in charge of regulating our emotions, Qi (energy) and Blood while our Spleen regulates digestion. Because stress directly impacts the Liver, it then uses energy from its partnered organ system— the Spleen to complete its tasks. This creates digestive disorders like IBS, gas and bloating because the Liver is attacking the Spleen.
😣Insomnia: repeated stress causes Liver energy stagnation which eventually causes excess heat. Just as hot air rises, this heat travels upwards affecting the upper part of the body. Insomnia caused by Liver heat looks like difficulty falling asleep, having too many thoughts in the mind and waking up between the times of 1am-3am.
🔥More signs of Liver heat include: anger, Heart palpitations, red/ dry eyes, red face, acne, bitterness in the mouth, increased Blood pressure.
😣Women's health: in addition to being responsible for the smooth flow of Qi and emotions, the Liver also has a key role in storing Blood. Depending on the woman, stress can affect the Liver in two ways, either creating Liver Heat or stagnating the flow of Qi. Symptoms are as follows:
🔥Liver heat: excessive blood flow, Blood that has a crimson red color with a thick texture, me**es that come early or lasts longer than normal. The health and distribution of your microbiome directly affect your cognitive and physical performance, mood, and mental health. It's not only about nutrient absorption. Often underrated and underreported, e.g., is that more than 90% of serotonin synthesis happens in your gut.
I often get the question: "What can I eat, supplement, or do to improve my gastrointestinal issues?" That's not a good question because, with healthy dietary and lifestyle behavior, you wouldn't have gastrointestinal problems in the first place. The better question is: "What do I have to eliminate from my daily routines to set the environment of my microbiome in order?"
In the illustration, I gave some typical root causes of dietary and lifestyle misbehavior, which in the long run promotes all kinds of chronic and inflammatory gut diseases. There are plenty more factors that may contribute to it, and the ideal interventions depend on various individual factors. The primary intention of this post is to switch your focus away from implementation towards elimination. Probiotics, e.g., are a significant intervention to rebuild the microbiome after the abuse of antibiotics. It makes no sense while you're still on the drug, though. Get rid of the trash before you try to set your house in order!

Emily has done amazingly on this programme. Although Emily didn’t really have many health issues, it was more emotional trauma for her and maintaining healthy habits and taking care of herself.
You can see that the emotional side of life for Emily has improved along with many other areas from her results which are listed below:-
